Default Wet AMD, eye patch help?

Well, the forum says "General Health Conditions & Rare Disorders", so here goes. On March 3rd I started seeing black "things" in my right eye. Not floaters. I called my eye doctor who said to come in NOW!! I did. He inspected my eyes, immediately got me an appointment with a Retinal Specialist... it was almost noon and this appt was at 1pm, so I knew something was going on.

Retinal Specialist spent awhile checking my eyes out and told me I might have a torn retina which could lead to a detached retina, but I also have some Macular Degeneration in my right eye. Which coupled with the blood ..... and I a little fuzzy on his terminology, but Wet AMD is what I remember him talking about. He said to come back in 3 weeks or if it gets worse.

He gave me some other instructions, like not lifting anything over 5 pounds and so on, but being a male, I forgot his instructions yesterday and my right eye was "throbbing" later in the day. I put an ice pack on it and it did not help. I am wondering about an eye patch??

I laid down, with the drapes pulled and no lights on, but that did not really help much either. Any suggestions?

I have other medical conditions that complicate the issue, but it would seem like there should be something else I can do, like the eye patch, to relieve stress on my right eye.
I don't know if this is a neurological issue or not, I was told my undiagnosed rib cage problem is likely to be tied to a neurological condition, so who knows, maybe the eye problem is too. Any suggestions appreciated. I followed mrsD's advice and started taking the appropriate vitamins, etc. to try to help my eyes.

What a life we lead!!!
