Tough to read,sorry
I am 40 years old,male in decent shape and never had a problem before 1996,I smoke(tring to quit).My problem is I have had a rapid heart rate of 220 bpm in 1996,was givin meds to slow it down,that worked.(got really bad anixity after that)Then in 1999 while walking my dog she got into a fight with another dog and my heart went into Atrial Fib where I had to have a cardioversion done.(That rally freeked me out even more)and Just last week I was sleeping in my bed and I dreamed that my heart was in Atrial fib,well I woke up thinking wow that was only a dream but I soon knew that my heart was once again in atrial fib.I went to the Hospital where they did a cardioversion again.I have had NO chest pain during none of this and my Cardo doctor found nothing wrong.I was taking 25mg of toprol before the last episode and now my doc wants me to take 50mg which I have been doing.The problem is I now take toprol in the morning instead of at night before I go to bed.Now I have been waking up with a fast heart rate every other day.If I sleep upright then I sleep all night but it seems when I am laying down(or eat to much)my heart rate goes up.This is driving me nuts.Smoking gives me heart palpatation more now then before so I am quiting the cigs.Does anyone have any ideas??????????Please help

Also back in 1996 the same day I was taking a musle relaxent for a back injury and I smoked some really strong weed may have been laced with something(I have not touch the stuff since or any other drugs or beer since 1996)Now I have this awefull fear of dieing 24/7 and fear is running my life.I do have a strong faith in god and pray all the time but,you know how that goes.I could use a friend to talk to even if its email,I'm kinda short on friends these days other than my feonsay and she's a wonderful girl(an Angel).

What kind of tests have you had? Did your doctor tell you why that your heart speeds up?
It seems like that whenever anyone has a problem with the heart, they end up having anxiety about it happening again. One thing leads to another and before they know it that is all they think about. The anxiety can bring on more and more problems as you know.
You said that your heart doctor could find nothing wrong. Has he not explained anything that makes sense?
I would suggest that you get a complete physical and if everything checks out you should seek a counsler because nobody deserves to live in fear like you are.

I had another bout with atrial fib just 3 days ago but they gave me some meds to convert me back to a sinus rythem which worked and they took me off the toprol and put me on sotolol


10 years ago Ihadsurance and I have echo-cardiogram,thalium test,mri,stress test,thyroid,blood and many others I cant remember.No my Cardio did not know what is causing my heart to speed up or go into atrial fib.YES I have really bad anxiety over these heart problems which I never had before,EVER!!!! and I'm sure thats not helping either so I now take zanax,but that makes me tired,not to mention I have been on every anti-depression med ever made and I hate them all.I just take zanax .25 and deal with being tired.I just landed a scholl bus driving job I have been wanting for a long time and 2 days before I start this job I woke up with atrial fib.So I'm screwed again.....is it really all worth it????

I guess when all is said and done I can only control so much but I'm sure if I had tons of money to throw at this problem doctors would be knocking down my door to try and help me.This is the type of world thats come to be.I can only pray I go in my sleep to a place of peace,like the dream I had the other night,the kind of dream where I did not want to leave but instead I woke up,that ****** me off......thanks for listening to my rants...take care..if you want to email me need4speedic@aol.com

I worked out, swimming, with a guy whose heart continually went into rapid heart beat. He had to stop, and get out of the pool. But he said he had medications to control it, so it only interrupted an occasional workout. We often swam at the maximium heart beat level. He apparently had a good heart except for the electrical part of it causing the rapidity of its beat. Is this the same as yours?

Ten years ago I also started having problems with my heat speeding up over and over again. It would start with a premature heart beat and then go up so fast I would get dizzy. They ran lots of tests and found nothing wrong. I started having anxiety attacks because of it. I was getting to the point of not wanting to go anywhere.
I started taking Ziac (a beta blocker) and that helped a lot but I still had the premature heart beats and was very uncomfortable about being by myself.
I got tired of being that way so I forced myself to do things more and more until I could finally go by myself.
I still have premature heart beats but I have grown used to them. I have lived ten more years and I am still here, I do think that when these things happen to your heart that they are hard to overcome but it can be done.

A couple of years ago I started taking coq 10. After taking it for about a month I noticed that I wasn't getting as many premature heart beats. I mentioned it to my doctor and he said I should take more than I was taking.
I am not sure but I think that coq 10 thins the blood so it is not for everyone.
