When i look at most stripped patterns I instantly green lines running perpendicular to them. I did some research and found out this is called the McCollough affect. However I have never stared at one the affect inducing images, and the green lines go away immediately when I look away, theres no after image.
i have visual snow/HPPD and get both positive and negative after images very easily. I think it maybe related to this, but have not found anyone with VS experience this. Years ago when my VS first started i got a brain MRI and sent to a opthamologist who found nothing. |

Hi Jwaggin
Welcome to NeuroTalk ![]() As far as I can make out the McCollough Effect is an example of synesthesia which is poorly understood. You might find this free-access paper helpful Synesthesia and the McCollough Effect. - PubMed - NCBI. Best wishes.

I think I mild synesthesia, though it's no where near the level of hearing colors etc. I do though naturally imagine in colored images which i found out is not too common ( I thought everyone did).

I was looking at the images at the bottom of ****************
The ones that have a circle shape outline gives me different effect. The line curve inwards then back outwards (still perpendicular though), looks kind of like a baseball thread pattern. If I look at one of images that have green as the color the lines are blue, but otherwise the lines are always green regardless of the color used. Thought it was kind of strange. |
