Mid january I had a TIA, weakness in my left arm. I have has numerous tests since. All is fine except after an MRI I was told I have "white spots" on my brain. I am taking meds for high cholesterol and have lowered it from 267 to 166. Blood pressure is about 126/70. Just trying to get info from others who have been told they have "white spots" and what they have experienced. Pinkie

white spots can be the resulting damage from a wide range of neurological conditions. The most common myelin damages, I believe, come from MS, and,according to NIH (the National Institute of Health) the next largest group are from adult leukodystrophies. These diseases have different etiologies (causes), one (MS) is thought to be an autoimmune disease; the leukodystrophies are generally genetically based. Migraines and variuous forms of dementia also can cause white spots. I have Cadasils which cause large areas of white spots as a result of multiple tia's.... with myelin damages so large that in advanced Cadasil cases it is difficult to find areas that are undamaged.
