Can anyone help! I have had a twitching to my bottom lip for months and months now, and also slight numbness/strange heavy feeling to left cheek, went to the doctor who said it sounded like nerve virus!!?? and gave me some pills to settle the nerves of my face, i took them for a couple of days, they were horrendous, knocked me out and made me permanantly drowsy, the twitching subsided slightly for a bit but is back now, and is a constant twitch/pulse....can anyone tell me what it might be?

Hi Angiepangie
The symptoms you describe could be a feature of any number of conditions, including, as your doctor has advised, some form of neural inflammation / damage resulting from the activity of a virus (try Googling, for example, the condition ADEM). If he is correct, it may just be a question of time and of looking after yourself (ie rest and good nutrition) for your symptoms to resolve. If you don't feel comfortable with your doctor's diagnosis, you may want to ask for a referral. As you look through the posts on this excellent site, you will find that patience and persistence are common themes in seeking a definitive diagnosis of a neurological condition. All best wishes ![]() Merle |
