Anasazi23 and Mrs D do you guys research meds and health issues so you know what to ask for to help for your issues? Or is your background in meds and health issue? You know so much. I almost feel I need to start really reading up so I know what to ask for or to try to fix myself cause so far the docs have been little help.
Shytam, See for me the cymbalta has done nothing for sleep or depression or anxiety. I have been on though countless meds for those issues with little improvement. Same with the pain. It is like my body absorbs them weird. If anything I have been more anxious but I thought it was due to the fear and pain. Can you call your doc to see if they can start you at 30? When I started I was on 30 and then jumped to 60 and I felt so sick for a few weeks. Then it passed. I took it with dinner though to absorb food.
As for tapering.I'm very cautious. I don't want any other issues. I may work with my psych on tappering this rather then the pain doc but not sure.I feel like the psych knows more about the meds and the best way to get off but maybe I'm wrong. Its probably depends. I need something though to help with this pain. I heard though with cymbalta too not to open the pill but that some people when get to 20 then do every other day. I'm sure every one is different.

Hi daniella

I am not medically qualified, but a parent who saw her son go through awful withdrawal from Luvox, because of not being given *correct* information on tapering down by his doctor. We tapered, but the withdrawal was still too rapid

My son's experiences have also taught me to now read every single side effect of any med very carefully and then do more research before taking it or giving it to my family.

I would really urge caution on stopping any med without careful and *experienced* doctor supervision.

I did learn the very hard way about becoming informed about these things myself. There is a lot of info out there and one does have to sift thru it to discern what is factual, and even with my background in research, I often feel like I am floundering.

That's one of the reasons I really appreciate how mrsD puts up valid links to info so we can go and see for ourselves, and be more informed when we next see our docs .

I hope all goes well with the decisions you are making about the med.
Cheri

Daniella, I am not sure I understand what you are asking.
Do you read the threads here?

I have both training and personal experience which I share here. Sometimes one over the other depending on the question.
When a new thing comes up personally for me, of course, I look into it,
before applying it to myself. Isn't that what this format is for? To learn new things. To profit by others' experiences?

I remember what it was like BEFORE the internet. Now we have choices, and can learn to help ourselves. But you must be CAREFUL, and know where to look and trust. That is one reason I give links and information. I do not like to recommend places/people who are shifty or only out to make a buck off you. And I try to find the heart of the matter as well. (if it can be found, that is).

Yes I do I just get confused on people experience/issue. I thank you though and I agree about doing research because I'm finding people do want to just make money off us. In the past I was told to do something by a professional and I did it or took it cause they were the doc but now I have to really think about it and get a 2nd opinion and research. Its very confusing but thank you for your help. I really hope you and the others who know so much realize how it helps clueless people like myself.
