I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else before...
I had an MRI a month ago at a new radiologist group. They had to obtain my old MRI from another group in order to make the comparison. I'm not sure why it's been my job to do so, but I've been trying to hunt down my results for what seems to be forever! Is it just me or is this totally unreasonable?!

it's a bit unreasonable.
i'd go to the place that did your mri. sign a release and ask them for a copy (CD) of your films. you might have to come back to pick it up but it shouldn't be more than about 48hrs. then you can take it to your dr. and the place you had your new films taken...do the same thing. get a copy. do that each time you have mri's. keep the copies for yourself and start a medical record. then any time you need to see another dr you will have the films.

I have copies of my MRI's from 2006. (I'm claustrophobic and not planning on getting back into another machine anytime soon)
When I picked up my copies of the MRI's from the MRI places, I asked them for an extra copy of the CD's. My neuro has a copy, and I kept the other copies. When I went for a second opinion, I burned a copy for that appointment, just in case I didnt get my disk back. I kept my original copy, and gave them the one I burned. I scanned all my records and printed them out and put them into a binder. That got old quick, and my hands get tired carrying the stupid thing to other doctors when I've had to do that. So I have a USB thumb drive now that I just put everything on when I need it and just tell them to copy what they want and give me my drive back. Easier to carry.
