Default Achy Breaky Bod,

For the past week, my arms and shoulders hurt like **** and also, a stiff neck. I wonder if I'm having a flare, of sorts?

I haven't had this kind of pain and weakness, since before I started LDN, years ago. Maybe the new colder weather has brought Arthritis to these aging bones? Although this is more muscle than bone?

Any suggestions? Heating pad, maybe?
Waaaaaaaaaaaaa..

That's what I'm having. I generally get really stiff and sore in th neck uper back and shoulders when it's cold - some hand arm weakness too.

But this year it started early and also having lower back, legs and feet. My feet are so bad it feels like somebody beat them with a ball bat when I first wake up. I often walk on the sides of them.

And my calves are hard as rock. What's up with that?

I've been using this thera gesic cream - and it is really stinky, so only at night under old sweat pants and T shirt. I hope I can get the stench out of my bed.

But at least I don't wake up in the middle of the night with the pain.

Mrs D says to try Salon pas patches - I got some of those. Not too bad, not as strong but easier to patch then to rub cream.

Had dr appt, but again, he is doing nothing. Like I'm making all this up?

Anyhoo, maybe that would help you. Hope you find something.

me too! I think its just the change in seasons for me. I find massage, heating pad, a hot shower, or my TENS unit help greatly.

Do some light stretches to lengthen out those muscles, and keep them from being really tense. yoga type stuff works wonders, then when you are nice and relaxed, take that warm shower. a shower massage is a good thing.

feel better

Default Change of Seasons

Here in Michigan I dread this colder weather coming on. I start to hurt in the muscles and ligaments. I wake up stiff and my legs get all "restless leg symndromy". I invested in an electric blanket to warm up my bed and comfort the achey feeling brought on by the cooler temps. Warm baths help too. I have to keep up with my Baclofen according to my doc....as well as some Requip for the restless legs. At least taking the Baclofen at night helps me sleep too. Heat is always the answer for me.....sounds weird since heat is the enemy for most MSers....but when spasticity is a problem....its heat to the rescue. Creams like Capcasin do trick the brain into concentrating on the creams sensation instead of the faulty sensations going to the muscles, but they are stinky and OMG DONT TOUCH ANY OTHER PART OF YOUR BODY UNTIL YOU THOUROUGHLY WASH YOUR HANDS I always say "love hurts" but so does the cold.

I think a heating pad might help. We have an electric blanket under our bedsheets. I heat up the bed before we go to sleep at night, and leave it on until I actually shut off my reading light. Since I've been doing that I don't have as much achiness in the cold weather. Maybe you could try doing something like that Sally?

Warm thoughts heading your way Sally!

Two thoughts came to mind reading your post... DO you have Fibromyalgia? For some cold causes the muscular pain to worsen. My mom lives under heating pads/electric blankets during winter. Second thought... could you be running a fever?? Even a low grade fever is enough to cause muscle and tendon pain in my arms and legs. Most of the time two ibuprofen gives me relief for about 6 hours. The SalonPas strips work well for my joints... it is a comforting feeling that at least gets me to sleep.

Hope you feel better soon....

Y'all come on down here in crazy AZ land and sit with me on the patio. I am having raspberry iced tea but you can have whatever you like.

It is sunny, blue skies, 85 degrees, birds singing and just perfect.

I made sugar cookies this morning and have eaten too many so come share the guilt!

If you aren't able to make it just sit by a bright light and think warm pleasant thoughts like me eating all these cookies!!

Hope you feel better soon!

Sending hugs to all of you that are hurting right now.

All of the symptoms that I have been having has been said. I
thought that it was just my crazy body acting up.

This change of weather this year is really affecting me more then it has
ever had. I guess it might also have to be with getting older and not just
the ms and fibro. I was in a car accident many years ago, and the dr. did
tell me the older I will get the more I will have problems from my injuries.

We can't take the heat, we can't take the cold, where can we go to
find some comfort for out tired, aching bodies?

Sal my friend I hope that you find some comfort for your aches, sending
you a wish of bright SUNSHINE.

Jappy
