My Primary Care Physician is moving out of state. What a hassle! I can’t really say that I am heartbroken about her leaving, though. It is simple laziness that kept me from finding a new doctor long ago. That leads me to my question:
Some M.D.s are also D.O.s – which means that they practice Osteopathic medicine. Does anyone have any words of wisdom about, or general impressions of D.O.s? Thanks

My last Neuro Is a DO and He was an excellent Doc. He actually was recommended by my old old retired Woman/MD/Neuro, who was head of Neurology in one of our Hospitals.
I just don't need him anymore. ![]()

When I have a choice I pick a DO. In my experience they are open to more than just western med.

An MD I saw on a news program several months ago was asked this question. He described a DO as having the same amount, or more, medical training as a regular MD.
The difference mainly is that a DO treats the body as a whole rather than just a part or parts. This was my take on his description, but I would like a medical person with more knowledge to answer too. gmi |

i've had both and had good drs.
my last pcp was a DO and she was very good. tended to spend more time with me explaining things and answering Q's. sometimes i think a DO dr looks more at the whole person than an MD. it's worth a look.

My doc's are al D.O's. I would NEVER go to an MD now that I have had DO experiences, in my experience they have always had better method's of treatment. So, DO all the way. in my opinion.
