I'm afraid it is rather suspicious RW.

Jo*Mar's suggestions are what I'd be advising especially...
Drink lots of fluids. Avoid sugars. Hit the Cranbery capsules and or cranberry juice, and take a urinary alkalinizer (usually one that's made from Sodium Bicarbonate).

If your symptoms continue you may need A/B's RW, so don't leave it too long. Untreated cystitis can spread to nephritis, and that's a very serious condition.

I hope it passes soon.

OK, this is officially pain now. I may be dying here.

I can barely walk, never mind void. It hurts like hail! I am trying to flush with water, but that just makes the circle worse. Drink, pee, pain, drink, pee, pain.

The thing I am now worried about is that I had MRI with contrast Tuesday morning. I had the feeling before the MRI, but I am sure someone will link the two and start freaking out about nephrowhatever!

I have a class this morning that is vital to my job. Missing it could mean disciplinary action, and I don't see another scheduled anywhere in the next six months, so I have to go.

I am headed for the ER, and hopefully they will ge me right in and just do a dip and give me some ABX, and let me out in time for that STUPID class at 9:00 a.m.

So this is a UTI, huh? I'm sorry for any time I didn't show sympathy to anyone who had one of these and posted it. I understand now.

Feel better, RW. I hope the ER can get you in quickly and give you some meds.

Unacceptable that your MD wont dip a urine!

If the ER tells you its positive, I hope you call and speak to the MD who dismissed you, and let him know that this was unneccasary and mean on his part. thats his JOB! to take care of you when you are sick.

Feel better.

No kidding, Dej...there is no excuse for not testing for a UTI, esp in someone with your issues, RW...

Hope you got it taken care of in time to get to that class...let us know what's going on..

Your sxs are what I get...weird sensations, pressure, pain. Urgency even with a small amount to void. And eventually blood.

But the first sign I get is foaming urine, weird funky odor and then the pressure.

Feel better soon...

A doctor doesnt even have to be there for you to get a test for a UTI. I do nurse visits all the time for UTI's (cheaper, and I cant always get my favorite doctor when a UTI hits...since I usually get my UTI's on a friday when he's off)

You only need the doctor (or a PA) to write the Rx, and all you're going to do when you get tested for a UTI is pee in a little cup and hand it to the nurse who takes it back to the lab so they can centrifuge it and use a dropper to put some on a slide under a microscope so they can count white blood cells.

I think my doctor's office even does lab visits, where they just take you to the lab (instead of an exam room), hand you a cup and point you to the bathroom. A lot cheaper than a doctor or nurse visit because you dont have to take up an exam room. (my doctor's office does that when they're out of appointment times)

I dont usually suggest medications, but you can ask your doctor for some pyridium. (buy some pads because pyridium makes your pee turn orange, and it stains clothing) Pyridium helps. It's a pain med and except for the whole orange pee thing it's a wonderful medicine. It helps with the pain, and also helps the urgency and frequency.

Hope you made it to your class.

Oh, and remember this experience, the better you remember, the easier it'll be for you to recognize the signs next time, faster you get to the doctor, the quicker the infection goes away.

I've thought about it, but I dont know if my doctor would give me a Rx based on a do-it-yourself UTI kit.
