What symptoms were you using the Lyrica for that it was working for you?

I've had some fairly impressive neurological pain over the weekend. (I'm in a flaming flare from Hell, and I know this isnt the worst that it can get...just the worst I've experienced yet)

I have a Lyrica prescription, I just havent filled it because of the cost. (It wasnt even prescribed for this flare, but for a bad case of tennis elbow and a minor flare in my left arm last fall)

I may have to fill that Rx tomorrow.

I was given it for nerve pain which is really overall my whole body. I get a lot of sharp pin stabs and intense tingling. Also I have deep muscle pain in my back and it actually helps with that as well.

You know I really didn't realize how much worse those sx had gotten until I went without the Lyrica for a few days. So I have really learned to appreciate the med. And I'm not a person who likes to depend on them...but have decided if they work, why not been somewhat more comfortable.

When I first started on it it was just 50 mg once at bedtime. But a couple months ago he increased it to 100mg twice a day.

what kind of neurological pain are you experiencing? It's not fun and I hope you can get some relief soon.

I'm just curious...does your neurological pain get worse at night. Mine really does. I haven't been able to sleep at night for months now. The symptoms get much worse. I think I read something about the chemicals or something in your brain cause it to be worse at night.

I wonder if that is really the case. It makes sense to me.....and maybe because if it is true I don't have to think I'm crazy!!!!

I just started getting the neurological pain last week. My lower body went numb last monday. The numbness started creeping up my body last week. Neuro gave me oral pred on friday and that didnt seem to do anything over the weekend to help.

The numbness creeped up my body over the weekend, and now it's about the middle of my chest. The bad neurological pain started friday night/saturday morning and had to have been a bad case of The Hug. Thought it was bad then, but last night it was so much worse.

I ended up stealing my mom's TENS unit and put it on my ribcage and stomach for about an hour and had it set for a pretty high zapping just to taser the giant python that was squeezing me to death. I'd never felt anything that bad. Ended up talking to my neuro this morning, and he's gotten together with my regular doctor and they scored me some IVSM (3 days worth) at the out patient infusion center that I went to last summer.

Right now, the giant python seems to be sleeping, but there's something in my low back causing me a lot of pain. Feels like something laying on my back and stabbing me. Doesnt matter how I sit, and I cant get the TENS on it just right.

My evening got really stressful about an hour ago too. Our houseguests got back from wherever they've been all day, and they promptly overflowed the toilet. (blamed it on my mom...this toilet isnt supposed to be overflowable...it's the kind that sucks down 18 ping pong balls)

So, now there's water leaking into my basement...(storeroom side of the basement at least) and my bathroom down here in the basement has become the public toilet for the house. (no one wants to go in my dad's bedroom and risk waking him to get to the toilet in there)

I'm already irritated that we have 3 extra people in the house for at least the next month. It's really stressful that they're now going to be intruding on my privacy while I'm sick with MS crud. (my dad promised that no one would bother me. I know it's not his fault...this week just keeps getting suckier tho)

I'm just waiting for the house to catch fire, because that's probably the only way things will get worse.

Oh wait...things feel like they're getting worse. Neurological itching in my left hand (hand that's been numb since last fall) I'm calling about some Lyrica tomorrow. I had a Rx for it, but it expired. I never filled it because it cost over $100. I think I'll splurge tomorrow if I can get my neuro or my regular doctor to Rx it to me again.

I'm going to go attempt to sleep. The infusion center is supposed to call me in the morning to tell me when my IVSM is scheduled. (could possibly be tomorrow, probably will be wednesday)

I hope you get the IVs started soon. Hopefully they will help. Maybe they will get you either some Lyrica or something else that would give you some relief.

Sound like you have a LOT of stress right now. I feel like that also makes the sx that much worse. Stress seems to settle in whatever part of your body is already having troubles.

Sleep isnt happening. (ah...the joys of oral prednisone...hope the IVSM isnt as bad)

I just discovered the fickleness of the MS. It's weird what the MS will screw up, and what it'll allow to stay normal. My left arm is numb, yet the left side of a certain part of my chest is not numb...however, a certain part of the right side of my chest is numb (really numb) yet my right arm is not numb. Weeeeird! (I do have a little tingle in the right hand tho)

I feel like I'm either wearing very thick diving pants, or I've got some sort of bizzare chastity belt pantsuit on that is so long that it goes down over my toes. I literally feel like there is something belted or tied across my waist and going down to my toes. Some strange feeling, very thick pants with bootie slippers. Like there are ropes wrapping around my ankles and thick heavy boots on my feet. We wont even go into what it feels like those numb parts of my chest are "wearing". MS is weird! (and irritating, and painful...and itchy! argh!)

I'm so tired, but my brain wont sleep. I keep having to get up and move around because I'm uncomfortable, so that's screwing with my sleep too. I changed my signature tonight because I thought that Murphy's Law was appropriate for what's going on in my life/house this month.

I guess I'll go take another late night shower in the hopes that I'll get my IVSM in the morning. Maybe the benadryl I took for the itching might kick in.

I hope the Benadryl is helping. Did your doctor give you any other medication for you sx?

I have never had both of my sides affected at the same time. I know that you must be very, very miserable. And when you can't get any rest it gets just torcherous!

I hope you can get some relief with the sterios IVs.
