Default Today started good and then......

I was working in my yard, picking some weeds, then all of a sudden it happened and I had to take another shower after having constipation this am, I don't handle this well, I was dx. 15 years ago and have never accepted this type of problem, sometimes I cry, sometimes I get depressed, what if it had happened at church this morning. I've never known how to handle this and probably never will, I don't go alot, thank goodness, I've always been at home, right now I'm think God knows how to handle this for me, I can't think of anything else.

do you mean diarrhea instead of constipation?

If you mean diarrhea, I have a story for you. A public story.

I was in the entry/reception area of a very large upscale retirement living facility making a delivery when I had a sudden urge to use the bathroom. I asked the receptionist where it was and she directed me down a hallway.

As I am calmly walking down the corridor, everything comes loose. And I mean in the most horrifying way imaginable. Every step created an ooze. My cheeks cannot clench hard enough to stop it. My colon literally emptied completely. By the time I get into the stall, even my shoes are destroyed.

I am now stuck in a public but private bathroom and everything on me and my lower body is covered in feces. My cell phone is right OUTSIDE the facility in my car. I am stuck. I could have stayed there for hours with no one using this bathroom.

The only good thing is that my shirt covered my tushie, just barely.

After cleaning up the best I could, I suck it up and walk calmly out the door. I have no doubt I smelled and I had brown streaks on my legs.

I was very embarrassed. At least ten people are in the lobby as I walk passed them. I felt sorry for the janitor that had to clean up what I was unable to do under the circumstances.

What would you have thought of me as I walked out? Would you have had compassion or laugh or what?

I like to think after the initial shock, I would have had compassion.

I have MS and that is the sorry truth of the matter. Lousy things happen. This little event happened over a year ago. I think the only one that remembers it at all is me and unless prompted, I forget about it.

I like to think it makes me very unpredictable.

It is not easy and you have my sympathy and empathy. And your incident happened at home!!! How great is that! If it happens in public, well you know in advance, you are not alone.

Oh, I know how you feel! It has happened to me at home and out in public - once - just likeaarcyn's experience.
Now I never leave home until I am absolutely SURE I am completely done for the day.
I take Fiber choice and it has helped me immensely...but there are still those days when in a flare that it can still catch me off guard.
I now take along extra panties and disposable wash cloths and a pair of pants rolled up.
I also use pads - just in case...
So embarrassing...but, like aarcyn, all you can do is laugh...and RUN!!!

I am a constipated girl by nature. Other week I was happily chopping vegetables to go in my stew when I felt like something running down my leg. WTH?! I looked down and yep, I had a brown streak running down my leg. no warning, no cramps, no feeling, just ooze. made a brown streak for the shower stall where I stripped off my clothes. Sat on the potty and finished. Then jumped back in the shower to hose off. never happened before, and hasnt happened since. bizaare!

now, if I was in public, or church or the grocery store...you know what? stuff happens. My friends know I have MS and I am sure I would have been forgiven. Strangers I dont owe an explaination to, so it would have been either gross or funny to them. either way nothing I can do about it.

im sorry this happened to you, but as you can see, you are in good company.

I have lived with this for 8 years now. I have Crohn's and an ileoanal reservoir (no colon, but no ostomy either) and poor control due to spasms at the sphincter. All of my stools are loose and caustic because of the lack of a colon, and any leaks immediately cause burns on my skin. I have soiled my bed many times, don't leave the house when I am suffering a flare that almost guarantees a lack of control, and wear pads when I am most likely to need them. I would not laugh or gawk . . . I would be either trying to find a way to help or shooting you caring looks.

My incontinence issues are one of the big reasons for my disablity. My employer (and most others) had a hard time justifying keeping an employee who might have to spend an inordinate amount of time in the restroom, and having to drop everything when it is urgent.

And now I have nervous system issues to complicate the matter . . .

Awwwww, Poochie, I hear you darlin and empathise. I can hold piddle better than the other. When my bowels decide to let loose, it doesn't matter where I am.

Since I rarely go out, anymore, I haven't had that imbarrassment, lately, but I used to..and had one incident almost as bad as Cyn's. I have had to change many an outfit and some bedding then cleaned the toity and the floor, at home....uggggggghhhhhh!!

Welcome to the "You never know when or where Club"

At least you didn't hurt the grass..
