I've never had a migraine. I've had headaches but I think when you have a migraine you probably know it.

I've been having a really mild headache in the mornings accompanied by splotches of green and red color in my field of vision. Does that make sense? It's hard to describe. Like while I'm typing this I can see splotches of green to the right....not all the time but sporadically. Then, I'll see a splotch of red to my left.

It's not painful. The only other sx that I'm having simultaneously is ringing in my ears. Especially my left ear.

I'm sure this is MS related somehow. Tthis is just something new for me. Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do about it?

I have not experienced what you are describing. But maybe it is worth contacting your neuro. Do you have an eye specialist? I always feel that vision is nothing to mess with.

I sure hope it is something that does not last and does not get any worse.

Thanks for the link, Snoopy. It explains it well.

I've left a message for the Neuro....he was out yesterday and the Neuro covering for him said there was nothing I could do for it. The nurse said she would give the message to my doc so he could address it and make a note in my records.

It's not happening this morning. But I'm keeping track of how often it does. I don't like to fool around with my vision.

I have visual migraines and they are painless. its wild! Its like someone snuck up on me and used flash photography to take a close up picture, and now you have all these dots dancing in front of your eyes. its hard to see past the dots, and the splotches of color. Many who get them say they last about 10 to 15 minutes, but mine can last as long as one hour. I find simply resting helps it go away faster.

Occasionally mine if followed by a real migraine. one sided head pain, nausea, light sensitive and so forth that only going to bed will fix, but its not the normal pattern.

I had one once - they called it a optical migraine then (1998).

It lasted about 20 minutes, and I was wiped out most of the day after with nausea & weakness.
Mine was like flashes of lights, fireworks, and spinning in/out of focus.

I went to my eye doctor a couple years ago for this....I didn't have the colors, just like a "pinwheel" spinning in my eye. Doc said it was optical migraines. No pain..lasted anywhere from a few minutes to an hour. Really annoying. I find I get then more so when I'm tired or stressed.

I have had both, and the OM's are like having the aura without the ensuing headache.

People will tell you ... oh, its only an ocular migraine.

But I have had 2 ocular migraine events in my left eye... and even when I had an angiogram...it was..."oh, it is only...."

Then I had a STROKE in that eye a few years later. What this means is that if you have these events only in one eye...it might be a sign of the vasculature in that eye is stressed. Stress enough (from high blood pressure or high homocysteine levels) and you can get a clot there which will hemorrhage into the retina. I lost about 60% of my vision with that stroke, but it did heal up over 6mos and now I only have a pulse in it occasionally.

So many complicated things can happen in your eye. Sometimes it is the brain sending the signals, and if that is the case you would see it in both eyes.

This is not to alarm you but do consider things that happen in the eye as important signs. The next sign may be worse.
