I am looking for current recommendations on rollators. What models have you found that you would recommend for or against? Please be specific about your reasons . I tried searching on the forum but if there is a current thread, I missed it. Feel free to point me there.

Well, I don't have a rollator (yet) but I'm interested in them, too. So I'll wait with you for everyone to answer!

This is the one that I have. I used it and loved it for years, while I was still walking pretty well. I see it's on sale. I paid 200.00 for it 12 yrs ago. I liked the push down brakes, easy to handle and the seat was comfy.

I have a rollator that I got in february when I had an annoying flare that affected my walking (legs were weak, I was tripping over invisible obstacles. Had NO energy at all)
I really like the rollator, because I didnt have to lift it up to make it move. All I had to do was push it and it went. It also has brakes so that if I wanted to stop and sit down, I could lock the breaks and then sit on the seat that it has. (padded seat, with a little compartment below to carry stuff like my ipod or netbook, or a crochet project) I dont need to use it to walk around currently (I did PT and that helped a TON!), but I do keep it next to the bed at night so that if I get woken up by a massive muscle spasm. I can use it to help pull myself up so that I can stand on whatever leg is having a muscle spasm. Plus, usually when I get up in the morning, I'm so stiff that I have to stand for a minute or three and wait for all the muscles to sort themselves out. Gives me something to hang onto. The rollator is also handy for when I want to move something heavy. I was putting my sewing machine away, and decided to set it on the seat and then pushed it into the other room where I'm storing it. Less strain on my arm. Able to move the rollator quicker too. Not sure what brand of rollator it is tho.

My rollator is made by Hugo. It looks a lot like Sally's rollator with a padded vinyl seat and a basket under the seat which can hold my purse, etc.
DH and I decided after about two years now to retire this rollator to the back yard, get one for the car and have one exclusively for the house. It is easier than what I have been doing - lugging this one everywhere. Plus my cats like to hop on for rides so the padded seat is looking a bit holey...and not in a religious way. ![]() We got them at Sam's Club. Price Club used to sell it but they switched manufacturers and I preferred Hugo. Cost? About $100+ for each. It has all the features, lock down brakes, padded seat and pouch large enough to hold stuff. Turning radius is fine. I looked at a few at a specialty mobility store. This one was just as good as any I tried there. |

hello,
my rollator is a NOVA. i don't have specific info. i bought a few yrs ago at a medical supply store. i had 1 already but found it was getting too heavy for me to put in and out of my van. #2 is about 10-15lbs lighter. i've lost some strength so it's not as easy. i put it in the back seat area because my scooter goes in the back of the van. i'm sure if i had been a bit more savvy i would have researched some more. also, make sure that the model you pick can hold your weight. and, on most the basket is extra but i really find it helpful. i paid about $130-140. let us know what you decide.

I do not find it as comfortable to sit on as my previous rollator because of the placement of the bar cuts off several inches of useable space. |

I read a review several years ago of the Dana Douglas Nexus. Is anyone using it?

When I saw the Hugo rollators at Costco, I noticed that their floor model was not put together correctly. The wheels were on backwards.
That's why when I got mine, I went to the medical supply store and got one that was already assembled. Stumbled in, tried out several models and finally chose the one I eventually took home. That way the brakes all work great, and my wheels are attached correctly.
