I've had fatigue before. I felt totally drained even though I had done nothing. My legs felt like cement and it wore me out to just walk down the hall.
But this week I've had a different symptom. I'm so sleepy. Within an hour after getting up in the morning I can nod off if I sit still long enough. I've been purposely keeping myself awake so that I can at least take a nap after lunch time and not feel like I've spent the day in the bed. The only way I can describe how this feels is this: you know how you feel after you've stayed up all night? You're tired and sleepy but you also feel drained.....like you've pushed too hard or done too much and just depleted all your strength. Sorta like a wet noodle. I've just started taking B-12 so I know I have to give that time to kick in. This feels different from the MS fatigue I've had before. I'm not just tired. I'm sleepy, too. Anyone else experienced this?

I get like that sometimes. I just feel so sleepy and have to go back to bed. For me, it's mostly when my allergies are acting up or I'm sick. It is different from the MS related fatigue though. For me, MS related fatigue is overwhelming and at times I feel as if something toxic is in my body. My body gets so heavy and tired. This is a horrible feeling and one that I get often with the MS, especially if I don't nap during the day.
Also, sometimes our quality of sleep can leave us feeling that way. If I have a rough night, I am sure to feel that way in the morning. You may be coming down with something too or it may be something else not related to your MS, especially if this is not your normal fatigue. Keep track of it and if it continues, talk to your dr. about it. I hope you start to feel better soon. ![]() |

Sometimes you do need extra sleep. I recommend trying more, see if that helps. It may just be a sleepy time and next week will be better.

I notice being sleepy and yawning my face off on a gray or rainy day. Also the way we sleep, Kelly, adds to it too. I get my best sleep in the morning hrs between 5 & 11, Even though I wake up periodically, I am still sleeping and resting better.
You get up too darn early. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I do! I usually go back to bed around 6 AM and sleep pretty well until about 9 AM. I do wake up alot during the night but usually have no trouble going right back to sleep. I've always been a light sleeper. Since I can nap whenever I want to I haven't really worried about it. I don't take any kind of sleep aid. If I had to bet what was my biggest sleep "interrupter" it would be the LDN.
