I have been using the vaporizer for eleven days.

I take two draws around 6PM and another two draws as I am getting ready for bed around 10:30PM.

During the day, the MS hug is bearable. Nighttime, just sitting, the hug, the jerks and the pain are helped by cannabis. It will be interesting to try various strains to see what effect each has on my symptoms.

It kinds reminds me of trying different teas, black tea, raspberry tea, green tea. It is really the same mentality.

I am no longer afraid of an overstone. Once I wrapped my head around the fact that no one has died from too much, it was easy to medicate without fear. And using a vaporizer for consecutive days also gives me confidence.

It is the same kind of thing that I get from prescription drugs in terms of side effects. Initially, I think I feel a change. It is not this big mind blowing over the top effect.

I was given a surprise of a bunch of special brownies and a tub of cannabutter. The brownies do not taste very good. Not really chocolate and not really MJ. The results are harder to detect because I do not eat a brownie on an empty stomach so the time factor is an issue. Then there is a bed sleeping issue too where maybe the strongest effects is only in my dreams.

I'm glad you posted an update. What do you mean about the side effects? Are you referring to the morning after, or after medicating?

I was talking about the side effects of various medications I have tried in terms of symptoms for MS.

side effect(s) of:

Baclofen - muscle weakness, stiffness
Aminopiridine - constipation
Neurontin/Gabapenten - weight gain

I am sure there are more possible side effects for the above pharmaceutical medicines.

With all of the medications I referenced, when asked if they make a difference all I can say is, "I think it is making a difference. I am conservative with the cannabis. If I think I feel something, I do not draw another breath from the tube.

I have backed off of two, baclofen and gabapentin. I am substituting MMJ in place of baclofen and I am going to see about taking out more prescription drugs.

The less I pay to Big Pharma, the better I like it. I like the idea of medicating with a plant rather than a chemical.

But MMJ has a certain amount of side effect...depends on when/how I use cannabis. Using the vaporizer, the effect is more immediate. I can feel a difference. An indescribable "high" that helps with the spasms but does not make me a blithering idiot. That state of being does not last (approximately 20 minutes. DH and I can carry on conversations and although he is funny, he is NOT THAT FUNNY so I do not laugh manically) and although I am still aware of THC in my system, everything is "normal."

At bedtime, it is a relaxing thing. I take Ambien for sleep aid. Maybe MMJ can be the substitute. I just do not want to eliminate all my drugs all at once. There is no hurry.

I was given Turkish Delight and Blackberry Kush. A couple buds of each. Funny thing is that the benefactor did not ask the grower which was which and even though the grower did respond saying Turkish Delight is darker, both look the same.

The director at the cancer clinic had encouraged edibles, the digestive process allows the THC to last in the nervous system longer.

Oh would I love to be able to try this! I'm so glad it's helping some of you .

I had know idea about the differences in marijuana strains. Besides the MS, I have major problems with IBS. It seems like this would help me a great deal.

Thanks for all of the info .

I never tried MJ and I am from the Hippie Generation. I was too busy being married, more school, working, and having babies.

I still drive so it is not in my future. Also prison time or big fine, and lose my license. Only Lindsey L and other stars get special treatment and they are bad, yet we get worse penalties.

So I'll just read your stories of the study you are in. It is very interesting. I never knew there was more than one kind of MJ and you ate it or smoked it.

I lead a sheltered life. I got married when I turned 18 years old.

Lady, your story mirrors my own mother's. Married at 20 during the 'hippie days', she never drank more than 1 glass of wine in a sitting, and never smoked a thing (or ate anything with marijuana - for that matter).

I came 'clean' to Mom soon after my diagnosis with MS and admitted that I had smoked pot as a teenager, and in my early 20s. She wasn't surprised, or mad, and it was actually Mom who encouraged me to talk to my neurologist about getting a prescription for marijuana after she had read Montel William's book (soon after she learned I had MS).

Mom is still pro-pot today, as is (thankfully) my family and extended family as a whole. A distant relative is SPMS (he actually traveled abroad for CCSVI - I'm not sure how he's doing after the fact though) but he also medicates with medical marijuana and that's the 1 thing that's helped him (in pain and bedridden).

Using cannabis as part of a medication regimen has not been as radical as I expected. I think the one overstone was really what was driving my fear.

I am going to try to take the time to get information about each variety I try, see how much is an indica or a sativa.

But for this entry, I am just going to notate the names and look for better information when I have time and inclination.

Master Kush/Turkish Delight/Blackberry Kush.

Of the three, the most helpful has been Master Kush. I would love to try the varieties specifically for the cannibis designated for MS.

I did not like Turkish Delight. It put me on edge. It reminded me of when I tried Requip for my leg spasms. Exact same body experience.

Funny thing is that I actually feel guilty about throwing it away! I wish I knew someone to affect a trade!

There is a political game going on in AZ and the dispensaries have been put on hold. DH and I are going to Denver over 4th of July. I cannot take MMJ across state lines but while in Colorado, I am hoping to be allowed to see the inside of an actual dispensary. It is very strict there but since I have an AZ MMJ card, I may be able to go inside the actual place.

But that is not why we are going to Colorado!

And two more pieces of information I am learning about...

I am vaping at about 6-7 PM. Then at night, one draw and 1/2 brownie. My reasoning is that the effect of the THC digesting will help sleep. The vaping is for a short relief.

Then there is kief (pronounced Keef). When I use the grinder, I get a small residue that is caught in a separate screen container. It is a higher concentration of THC. I think I can best relate it to eating an artichoke, there is a small part of meat on the leaf and then there is the artichoke heart.

Kief = hash? Or is the best way to make cannabutter?

I don't know. Not much in the container so I have plenty of time to figure out how to make the most of it.
