I am currently in Limbo Land on diagnosis regarding MS. My understanding is people are misdiagnosed with migraines when its really legions. I have not had an MRI yet. However, I was diagnosed with migraines at age 2 or 3 and have had horrible pain associated with that as well as the visual issues and a few other symptoms. I started taking a daily preventative in 2001 and without it I would never not have pain as far as my head is concerned. I still get a couple a month but its better than 3 days in a 2 year period WITHOUT head pain.
Is it normal to have migraine like symptoms so young but them really be legions from MS? Thanks for the help and have a great day everyone! |

Hi HH
![]() ![]() Lesions in the brain and along the spinal column are signs of inflamation/injury/damage of/to the CNS. They could be from many illnesses, so is only part of the DX criteria. Lesions are the result of the injury not the cause of the illness. Let us know how it goes after seeing your Neuro. ![]()

If they do an MRI, they can tell lesions from Migraine from other types of lesions like those seen with MS.
I was watching Dr Oz a week or so ago and he was talking about the supplement Butterburr as a great preventative for Migraine. Its 75mg 2x daily. May want to give it a try. He said it was very safe.....do a little online research. So sorry you have such terrible headaches. Hopefully you will get some answers soon as to whats going on. ![]()

hello and welcome to NT.
i don't know enuf to answer your Q but i have a thought. maybe it's time to be re-evaluated, reassessed. i don't know if you've been seeing a neurologist but you could. or, get a 2nd opinion. it sounds like you were dx'd (diagnosed) quite some time ago; maybe something else is going on. keep track of your sx's (symptoms) by keeping a sx journal with sx's/dates. your dr will find it helpful. let us know how you are.

Nurse Nancy I have an appointment with a neurologist on Nov 10th to discuss possibility of MS as I have about 50 conditions and symptoms right now. I have many things that have been diagnosed already but still many unexplained symptoms that haven't made sense to my rheum so he suggested seeing a neuro.

Just my opinion, but I think that Migraines and Seizures and MS are all related!
I have had severe migraines since I was a kid, and periods of zoning out with a blank stare for years.....I had seen a neurologist for years for the migraines, NEVER had a MRI or a complete neuro examination. I began to have blurry and double vision and losing my balance, and again my neuro said all was to do with the migraines. This is when I got a second opinion with a different Neuro. At my initial eval, and the most thorough neurological work up, he told me, even without an MRI, that he was pretty sure it was MS or spinal cord compression.....just from the clinical exam. I had an MRI, that showed about 10 small lesions. He said, the MRI lesions were not necessarily typical MS lesions, but having them along with my very abnormal neuro exam confirmed MS as a dx. An abnormal EEG showing spikes, confirmed seizures. I hope you find a good neuro that can help you!
