I'm going to have surgery in the ear future to correct pelvic organ prolapse. My doctor is aware of my MS. He's explained the procedure to me and said that barring any unforeseen complications I will be able to come home the same day if I want to.
Has anyone here had any type of surgery and how did it affect your MS? Is there anything I should know beforehand? I'm planning to call my Neuro on Monday just to let him know and see if he has any suggestions or recommendations.

![]() ![]() I don't think the operation will bother your MS? I had a gall bladder removed and it had no adverse effect on my MS. Just make sure you start back on your LDN, when you get off of the heavy pain meds!! ![]() ![]()

LOL! I'm on a laptop now and typing on it's a bit of an adventure!
I was hoping it wouldn't make my MS worse......maybe I'll be the first person to go into complete remission after surgery!! ![]()

i have to use a desktop because when i sit down i have no lap!
when i had my neck surgery (i'm the consummate planner) i had food ready in the fridge & freezer. basically i took care of anything ahead to make things easier afterwards. my dr kept me in the hosp overnite for precautions but i would have been more comfortable in my own bed. have a walker around in case you get up during the nite. i didn't have any MS sx's besides fatigue with any of my surgeries. make sure you take it really easy and rest, drink fluids. have support people around who can help. good luck with everything.

Hi Kitty,
I am sorry you need surgery, not something anyone wants ![]() I have had a few surgeries and I have never had the MS get worse. Being tired after surgery and for a few days, a week or so is normal for everyone who has sugery. I have felt as if my fatigue is worse than what is normal for someone without MS after surgery. I just sleep as much as I need.

Last December when I went in for shoulder surgery I was a little nervous but I was worried for nothing. The surgery didn't affect my MS in any way. I even lost a lot of sleep those many weeks after surgery and everything was fine.
Sorry you have to have surgery. Best of luck. ![]() |

First of all, make sure that they aren't using any of the slings that are causing problems in women. My urogynecologist used cadaver skin instead of the mesh slings because he was seeing severe problems after surgery for women.
Also, you won't be able to lift anything heavier than a one gallon jug of milk for a month afterwards, so plan ahead. Have frozen foods ready, have sons come over to help and drive you around. It didn't seem to increase my sxs, because I rested a lot after the surgery as directed. Let us know what's up and how you're doing with all of this... ![]()
