First of all, make sure that they aren't using any of the slings that are causing problems in women. My urogynecologist used cadaver skin instead of the mesh slings because he was seeing severe problems after surgery for women.
Also, you won't be able to lift anything heavier than a one gallon jug of milk for a month afterwards, so plan ahead. Have frozen foods ready, have sons come over to help and drive you around.
It didn't seem to increase my sxs, because I rested a lot after the surgery as directed.
