that is an excellent point.
i was at my last job for 18 yrs. all that time i paid for the benefit of long term care insurance. when i got my MS dx i decided to work PT thinking i might prolong my work life, and my income. however, going PT i had to give up the LTI benefit.

the PT didn't work out and i had to resign a couple of months later, and had no benefits. something to think about.

a belated welcome to NT.
i hope your new dr can help you. sometimes it takes time for MS sx's can be dx'd in a way your dr can document. ie: brain, c-spine lesions or spinal fluid changes.

keep working to find answers. don't give up. you're your own best advocate.
and, start keeping a medical file on yourself. it will be important down the road. get copies of your mri's and the reports. ask for copies of your dr's dictation, test reports etc.

let us know how you're doing.

While you wait through the process of elimination....ask them to check your vitamin B12 level. Hang in there! Sometimes the not knowing is worse than any diagnosis.

the only vitamin level that was really low was my vitamin D. in the past 3 years they have ruled out, lymes, lupus, RA, a blood disorder, thyroid everything seems to be fine, i sure dont feel fine though!!! no one wants to have MS or anything like that but ill take having MS if it means i get an answer and they cant start me on something to make me feel better then i have been, i feel so bad for the people that go 10 plus years feeling this way with no answers! im not a religous person but i pray that i get an answer really really soon! im at the point where i feel like people think im crazy or imaganing all these things!

Candace - I'm so sorry about all your symptoms and the fact that you don't have a dx as of yet. It is so hard to know that something is not quite right and yet we don't know what it is or what is causing us to feel the symptoms we are feeling. It does take time to get a dx of not only MS but other conditions as well. It took me about 3 years to get the dx of MS and I did have lesions that showed up on my MRI but at that time, no clinical symptoms observed during my neuro appt. to support MS. It just took a while for it all to come together.

Keeping track of your symptoms - dates & times and what you experienced - as well as what, if anything, seems to make your symptoms better or worse will be helpful in the dx process.

Hang in there!!
