Default Keep on Moving Club

Hey gang, I know I have been AWOL. Remember our Keep on Moving Club thread? We posted our daily exercise to inspire us to keep as active as possible. My MS is stable. Been off Avonex 7 years now. I control my wellness and cross fingers on the MS staying stable.

Wellness Plan is:
Stay normal BMI. limit sat fats daily and limit simple carbs. Take vitamin D if I haven't had sun that day.

Swim a mile every day. Lasts year I took up surfing. I surf once a week. Usually stand up, but sometimes the waves are bad.

Rest 1 to 2 hours a day.

Avoid toxic friendship and any other controllable stress.

What exercise are u able to do? Walk? Roll?

Nice to see you back and starting the 'Keep on Moving" thread, BBS1951

My exercise took a nose dive for almost 2 years. First due to a medication then due to low D3. With the improvement of my D level also came an improvement of my motor function.

I enjoy the Elliptical. I am currently doing 1 1/4 mile in the morning and 1 mile in the afternoon with my level currently at 5. I have been steadily increasing both the level and distance.

Hi BBS. Welcome home. Glad your MS is stable and you are doing well.

I had a "keep on moving to keep on groovin" thread last month. I had a fall in Nov. and was in the hospital to heal and a whole lot of PT to get stronger. It worked so I am a big believer in keeping it moving.

Doing my PT daily and feeling better for it.

This is just what I need. I have not been working out lately very often. But today I did 40 minutes of Pilates and 30 minutes on the elliptical. I need to keep exercising because it helps my mood and keeps me strong. Thanks for reviving this thread.

Welcome back. Maybe it will motivate me cause all I do is work n play couch potato. I used to swim, bike, lift weights, wii fit and do pilates. Now I am a bump on a log. They say exercise gives you energy but I don't have the energy to exercise. I barely have the energy to work a desk job. Maybe I'll try and do 20 minutes of pilates today or ride my bike for 15 minutes.

BBS, good to see you

Yesterday, I walked to PT because I missed the bus. I had an hour of PT including 10 minutes of bike riding w resistance. I walked home. Then the cat was missing, so, while still daylight I walked the loop that makes up my street of 75+ houses.

So far, I am Ok this morning. Oh, and cat came home very hungry.

I'd love to start some sort of exercise routine. I tried the elliptical......couldn't do that for more than 3 minutes without my legs becoming like jello. Same thing with the treadmill. About five minutes is all I can manage without my legs becoming very weak. So weak that I can't support myself. I'm wondering if an exercise bike might be the ticket. Something I can do while sitting down. I hate to invest more money into something that I can't use but I need to do something. It has to be something I can do at home since I don't drive and have no way to go anywhere. Any advice?

I took a 60 minute spin class this morning before class and today I wasn't the only person over 20 years old in the room, lol.

If I don't work out at least 5 times a week I get depressed and am blessed at this point to be able to do it. I usually take 3 spin classes and do 30 minutes on the elliptical at the Y the other two days.

It breaks my heart to read about people who were physically active and can't exercise now because of MS. I am thankful for every day I have while I still can.
