It's because of the way I walk. I just wonder if there are any PT exercises that can relieve it?
I try to walk normally but, as you all probably know, that's just not possible. Even when I use my cane I still wobble. And my gait is anything but smooth. What have those who have this issue done to relieve it?

Yes, there are PT exercises that can help with that. I'll see if I can find some online. I have a sheet from my PT that shows them.
Also, PT will help with your gait. When we have trouble walking we put extra pressure on other areas of our bodies to compensate for what is lacking in out walking. Ask your PCP or neuro (if you feel like calling him) and ask about getting some PT. |

I meant to ask him when I went last time but he had me so flustered & upset that I totally forgot.

Skip the neurologist. Ask your pcp to make a referral for you for pt. Mine is usually receptive to the idea.

I don't know if a brace/afo would help or not. See a Physiatrist.

Is the pain mainly in the front, side or back of hip, or all over?
Hopefully that is the first thing a doctor would ask..but maybe not. Maybe some of these yoga poses would help. This site has photos of real people ( some sites just have drawings). I wonder if it could be the psoas causing some of the trouble? http://www.yogajournal.com/practice/169 This page has a list of categories- http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/fin...wse_categories And if any look like they might be worth trying , then a youtube search of that pose will be a good way to see it being done fully.

Well, I couldn't find them. I should have bookmarked that page but I didn't.
Jo*mar - Those are great. I do yoga stretches before getting out of bed in the morning. The gentle stretches really do help. Thanks for posting this. |
