I've had some leg pain before that would come and go, not much of a problem. For the last month it seems to be there constantly, throbbing, burning and aching. It's not the same all the time, could be from my hip down to my foot, or just my knee throbs, or my knee down to my ankle. Then all of a sudden my forearm and wrist...then it's gone...strange traveling pain. The weird thing is, when I'm up moving around or stretching my leg it feels better, until I stop doing that. It starts hurting when I'm sitting. I have no problem falling asleep at night because I'm exhausted, but at 3 am I'm up and can't fall back asleep because I'm in pain. So I get up and move around. So last night I took a Naproxen before bed and slept till 5, but woke up in pain. My entire left leg kills, also get shivers in my other leg. So, I'm wondering what you all take. I do not want to take any antidepressants..they make me feel too weird and I'm not depressed. Also, is this just another MS symptom to deal with or is this a flair? I don't think I know what a flair is, I pretty much have constant symptoms. I'd appreciate any comments because I'm going nuts here...thanks!

Carebear01,
This sounds awful, so sorry. Can you give us an idea of exactly where in the leg the pain is? And is it directional (top down, down up, or all together)? ANN Crosspost, HI Sally! |

Thanks for the replys!! The pain is all over, or in random areas. It is not a shooting pain so there really is no direction. The pain is deep. Sometimes numbing almost. Massaging does not help, almost bothers it more. I have no weakness in that leg. I do get tingly sensations.
Sally, I never thought of fibromyalgia!! I'll have to look into that. No I have not tried Lyrica. Sometimes my forearms will ache, or my joints and my wrists, but it comes and goes. So this doesn't sound like anyones MS pains?? |

CB01,
I was trying to see if it was sciatic or in its distribution. No, it doesn't sound like my MS pain but heck, that ain't saying much! Everyone's MS is different. I don't know enough about Fibro to help you there but lots of people at NT do. Best to you, ANN |

carebear, you are describing my pain.
I tried a sample of Lyrica given to me by my neuro last night and hey presto, pain has gone. I need to get used to the tablet obviously (side effects are unsteadyness, dizzy, balance issues etc but heck i've got them anyway...) but I would recommend you look into them. On the down side, they're not cheap 9not here anyway) and not prescribed for MS'ers so you pay full whack. |

I have tried neurontin and lyrica...they didn't work for me. I've been on Flexeril for four days and am pain free!!! I'm so excited about this and am finally sleeping and not waking up in the middle of the night in pain.
