Okay -- think I mentioned that I was supposed to have a neuro appointment yesterday (Wednesday). Since I'm going back to my original neuro, it's about an hour away and of course I need lots of help. Had my list of questions all ready, transportation lined up, and had gotten myself "psyched" to actually go this time.

Guess what??? Wednesday morning I got a phone call from the neuro's office cancelling my appointment. Apparently when scheduled it was for only 20 mins. and being it's been three years since I saw him and one year since the newer one, I need a 40 minute appointment. The appt. was scheduled for 4:00 pm, the end of the day for their office, so don't you think they could have stretched the time a little?!?

So now I'll have to do all the preparations again in two weeks. Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!

And now the question, I was reading another post regarding baclofen which I've tried and didn't like, zanaflex = diarrhea, so has anyone taken flexeril for spasticity? If so, how did that go please?? I realize some stiffness is needed to stand up, but it's really annoying when it feels like there's an iron bar up each pantleg when I'm trying to sit down, get into bed, etc. Any info will be appreciated since all of us here "get it"!

Judy, your neuro is officially declared a complete nimrod. When they booked the appointment, they didn't even ask you the pertinent questions? That's a load of crap. Let's just hope his office staff's skills are not a reflection of his medical skills.

Speaking of crap, I had no idea that Zanaflex causes the trots! No wonder Immodium is my fifth food group. Sheesh. But, I can't change to Flexeril because it has the reputation of a sugar pill, and Baclafen made my legs go soft (we blame it anyway), and I've really felt that Zanaflex has been a wonder drug for me, so...

Wow, I'm just bursting with helpful tips today.

I'm sorry you had such a horrific day. The office should have been aware of the fact that this was a first appointment, or what we call an "intake" appointment. Shame on them!

I believe I was the one who mentioned that Zanaflex caused me to have diarrhea. That is not to say that it causes everyone to have diarrhea; it just causes my **** sphincter to relax, and thus the diarrhea. So, I wouldn't rule it out if I were you. Perhaps your "new Neuro" can give you some samples of it and see how you fare on it before you have a script filled for it.

As far as Flexeril, I believe it is prescribed more for acute muscle spasm, such as spams associated with lower back pain. I haven't read too much about it being used in MS, but I may be wrong.

I also want to mention that I can take the Zanaflex, but I had to cut down my dosage (when I was on it) in order to decrease the side-effect of the diarrhea it was causing.

Best of luck to you when you FINALLY have your appointment. I hope it goes well, and that you both get off to a better start then you did today.

Hi Judy...Yes, your Neuro' s staff should be fried to a crisp and then thrown overboard. ssssssssssssssss.

I didn't like baclofen either and I never tried the others. I've just kind of lived with the stiffness, all these years.

When it was really bad, I found that Robaxin helped, without all the side effects. I started taking Robaxin for lower back spasms and then found it helped with the MS spasticity too.
