This is such a help to me, I have a very hard time with constipation, don't even remember where I got this brownie recipe.
1/3 c. applesauce 3/4 c. greek yogurt, I use vanilla 1/2 c. quick oatmeal 1/2 c. splenda or other sweetener 1 egg 1 tsp. baking soda 2 heaping T. cocoa Bake 400 degrees for 35 min. in an 8x8 pan It's not the greatest, but I like it cold and put a little cool whip on it. Needs to be cold to cut. I only made this because it is 35 calories per serving, but it works for me with constipation. Hope it works for ya'll. |

I wonder what it is about the recipe that helps with constipation. The oatmeal? Yogurt? Applesauce? Or maybe a combination of the 3. I don't have the ingredients to try this but will copy the recipe down and put the ingredients on the list. I have trouble with oatmeal though and haven't eaten any for a long time. I do okay with steel cut oats and I wonder if that will be okay.
I have mostly suffered constipation during flares but since I was in the hospital in April, I've been having a hard time with either constipation or slow motility. I take stool softeners and MiraLax (alternating days and dosages depending on...well, you know ![]() Thank you so much for posting that!!! ![]() |

[Yakima Fruit Paste- also know as “the Cannonball Recipe”. Taking this daily will help you keep regular by using 1-2 tablespoons like jam over toast or on cereal:
1 pound dried prunes, raisins and figs 4 oz. brewed senna tea (or above tea substitutes) 1 cup brown sugar (optional) 1 cup lemon juice 2 cups water Put dried fruit and senna tea into a pot with 2 cups of water, bring to a boil for 5 minutes or until fruit is soft. Remove from heat, add sugar and lemon juice. Use a hand mixer or food processor to create a smooth paste. Place in a clean plastic container and store in the freezer. It will keep for several months frozen.] https://athenawomenshealth.com/blog/...owels-regular/

That sounds like it might work too. I think putting it all together is the key.

I have a green smoothie (spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, orange juice, coconut water... sometimes add yogurt) every morning and usually a big salad for lunch. I am regular thanks to that.

Thanks for the recipe, poochie!
I think I will try it when the occasion arises, so to speak, but I will have to substitute for the splenda as I cannot tolerate artificial sweeteners. Stevia works better for me, but I will probably have to use a smaller dosage. Here is another remedy I initially found on the internet that has worked for me in the past. It is a mix of: 1 cup applesauce 1 cup unprocessed wheat bran 3/4 cup prune juice. Take one tablespoon daily and drink lots of water. |

Artificial sweetener is my guess for relief. It's not absorbed by bowels i've heard.
I've also heard success stories of study chewing sugar-free gum after birth which, worked better then women that didn't try it. I've been taking 2-3 Senna tablets (CVS brand) nightly for 26yrs. Put my 88yr ol friend on them last year. He's happy now. Senna "Plus" has softener in it which I don't use, but have. Emergency evac recipe is fresh spinich cooked down in frying pan with olive oil, salt, pepper & lots of garlic. Look out next day. |

Looking at the receipe, do you mean 1/2 cup sweetener....that would make it real sweet as I see it....I would not use splenda ever...I use stevia, small amounts...I'm getting rid of sweet tasting foods anyway.

1/2 c. sweetner is because the cocoa is very bitter. you can adjust however you like, I have put mini chocolate chips in it, I guess you can put fruit in it but I haven't tried that yet. And use any sweetner you want.
