Oh Judy did you mention the "bloodsucker" ?:thud:

MSacorn 09-05-2007 11:09 PM

FG

Please give Holly a big  from me. I hope she is feeling better soon. On the bright side, she has even more compassion and love for you, if that is possible. :)

Riverwild 09-06-2007 01:36 AM

I am most concerned about my employment.

I work for a human services agency that has a large presence in my community. Their whole reason for being is to support people with disabilities.

Unfortunately, at times, I do not feel as if that extends to their staff, especially in the case of my new supervisor .

I needed a chair I could get OUT of, not the foot high baby furniture in my building. I requested one chair. No response.I ended up going to HR and breaking down, crying about a stupid chair and finally explaining WHY I needed the chair. I had one that night, in the style I requested, delivered by HR. The evil gnome ignored my request.

I had to apply for IFML to cover any trainings or meetings I might miss if they fall during my monthly infusion. This might happen once every six months or so...or it did...before...BUT now, since the evil gnome knows I have IFML in place, suddenly EVERY meeting and training that pertains to me is on the one day of the month I cannot be here and the worst part about it is it's my day off anyway!! GRRR!!

I'd like to do this interview. I think it would help a lot of people. And I would love to take this woman down a peg. She'd have a whole lot harder time torturing me if I am out of the MS closet, so to speak...

Thanks for the replies

Flygirl, Thanks for your story on being outed. Sorry to hear ya gave poor Holly Bell's Palsy:p Did they want to do an MS workup?

MSAcorn, I told my friends and family. It's a need to know basis kind of thing with me.

Taffy, I ain't nevah done nothing in a small way...did I ever tell ya I am 6'2? :D

AMN, Good idea about using DM as a stunt double!! Boy we could send her in there and just start garbling in the mic, confusing her and then have her say...this IS a face of MS...LOL

Judy, I think in my own way I would like to hold up my employer under the very large magnifying glass of the public. :D Picture the lawsuit reported in the local paper?

Rotflmao --- DM is 5'1" she'd need a very tall chair to stand on!

RW-- Go ahead and shove it to the supervisor who doesn't seem to be able to practice what she preaches. Do the interview with pride! Also remember-- it can benefit the families and people you work with. They KNOW you feel and understand the word "struggle."

My big OUT has been my spiffy new "disabled" license plate.
When there are only so many lime green VW Bugs in the world, the world knows it's you!!!!

'S all good-- I get the best parking spot at Target!!

Hi Everybody.:Wave-Hello: I hope you are all well today.

This is the Month I am In Love. :In-Lurve: I was married on Sept 27, 1969 in the Methodist Church and then again on our 10th Anniversary, in the Catholic Church...for good measure...LOL. We would have celebrated our 38th Anniversary on the 27th.:)

I loved him dearly....not always, but for most of our 35 years together, we were happy. We had our ups and downs, but had fallen in love all over again and were each other's best friend, in the years before he died.

I was truly blessed and am thankful for all the years we spent together. He is now my guiding spirit.

Riverwild 09-06-2007 03:52 PM

Happy Anniversary Sal!!

AfterMyNap 09-06-2007 03:54 PM

Awe, Sal, what a nice post.

Okay today, it's mild and breezy, and overcast. It has been right tolerable all the day. I think my hand is calming down some and I'm very glad for that. I'm starting to get pretty keyed up now, three days and it's the open road. There is that bittersweet element of it being my last, but heck, I am one blessed chick and I haven't missed much. Besides, it will be a lot cheaper to just stay home and stare at the walls.:Red eyes:

I'm packing up a few last things and I'll be good to go.

I am wigging-out-excited because the iPhone will go down $200 this month. Now all that's left is for the stupid exclusivity with AT&T to get dropped and I am SOOOOOO INNNN!!!!! I ain't changing providers! Apple also introduced the new iPods, the Touch iPod has a browser and is Wi-Fi capable right out of the box. I want one, but I want the iPhone more!

Judy2 09-06-2007 05:12 PM

Happy Anniversary Sally!!! I'm sure you have lots of good memories! Even with my divorce, there were alot of good times to remember over the 24 years.

Taffy -- 6'2"!!! Wow! If you happen to fall, that's a long way down! My 5'6" was bad enough!

Beth -- How is Holly? Awwww...I didn't know dogs could get Bell's Palsy either. My father had it when I was just a kid and I used to bring in all my little friends to watch him NOT close his eye! Ah -- the innocence (sp?) of youth!

RW -- It's quite a coincidence that you're in the Human Services field. My last "great" employment was with the local Assoc. for Retarded Citizens whom you would think would show some compassion. But NO -- for the residents yes, but employees no. When I was hospitalized for depression, from the MS, that was the end. GO FOR IT!! Front page news indeed!

That reminds me, when I applied for unemployment while waiting for the SSD to kick in, usually you can't get it if they "fire" you, but the people at the unemployment office thought it was such a lousy thing for them to do, they granted my application. Wooo Hoooo, the ARC had to pay me after all!!

AMN -- Glad you're numbness is feeling better -- hope it continues for your trip. Maybe all the adrenalin from your excitement will cover up whatever's left!

AV8 -- From your pilot's viewpoint, what do you think the chances are that Fossett is still alive? Seems so strange after all the bigger risks he took during his lifetime, that a smaller, local thing could be his downfall. Too bad anyway.

Well, the steroids are done and I'm back in the yucky withdrawal now. Was so weak this morning, I could barely talk. Then the "bloodsucker" came for a vial of my red stuff and had some trouble getting it to stop bleeding. Apparently the steroids somehow increased the coumadin level so no pill today. My same vein was used three days in a row being she couldn't even find one in my right arm to put the needle in.

Hopefully in a couple days, I'll be back to my "good normal" -- whatever that is!!

Take care all! :)

MSacorn 09-06-2007 05:20 PM

Sally

Happy Anniversary Month. What a wonderful connection you and dear hubby had. Very rare indeed. You've got your memories and I'm always up for a story or two.

Thanks for sharing.

MSacorn 09-06-2007 05:22 PM

Judy

Good job finishing up the 'roids. I hope you are "normal" soon. I think the side effects are not worth the alleged benefits. But that's me.

tovaxin_lab_rat 09-06-2007 06:35 PM

You know Judy, a bunch of us have been talking about Steve Fossett today. Having met him a couple of times, I know first hand that he is a very experienced pilot and a great man. Most times, it's the unexpected things that catch you off guard.

When we go through our training, our instructors teach us how to react to emergencies - or how not to "react." We are trained to treat these emergency situations with calmness and procedures. It is hammered into us...procedure procedure procedure.

Unfortunately, the desert and terrain are sometimes unforgiving. If he had catastrophic engine failure at a high altitude and didn't have a parachute, he had very little chance of survival.

I used to live in the area where he is missing. It is unforgiving. But having said that, Steve is a very resourceful man and an extremely well trained pilot. If he survived a crash, he will survive. We are all holding out hope for him.

The airplane that I fly is very similar to his. Made for the area that he is flying - back country, no paved runways, rough terrain.

Say a prayer. He will be a great loss to the aviation community.

MSacorn 09-07-2007 02:04 AM

Hi Jalee :Wave-Hello:
Good to see you are back. Hoping the yuck is on the decline. I'm up for a party. What kind of party shall we have?

This wonderful mob has been wonderful walking me through this breakup and move across country. I'll be on a plane in 57 hours and counting. :D

Let me know what to bring, alche, chocolate, you name it. I'm there

AfterMyNap 09-07-2007 06:42 AM

Hey, Jalee! Long time no!

I'll hold my party energy for when Beth is safely thousands of miles away from the man of many colors. Distance makes the heart grow stronger in this case.

Thanks, FG, my hand is even better today and I am so thankful for that! Oy, it had me in 50 versions of paranoia.

I have a few errands today, coffee with some friends and a little laundry. That's about all the excitement I'll need.

The weather here is ideal, I hope it hangs on.

Has anyone heard from our lad, TS? I miss him.

SallyC 09-07-2007 11:23 AM

I will be glued to Court TV for most of the day, for the finish of closing arguments and Jury Instructions, in the Phil Spector Murder Case. It is presumed that Jury deliberations will begin today for a couple of hours and then resume again on Monday.

The closing by the Prosecutor was excellent and moving....."Don't Go" I am trying my darndest to keep an open mind as to the guilt or innocense of Spector, but I am leaning toward his being guilty.

I just can't buy the Defense's claim, that she walked into a stranger's home and shot herself....it boggles the common sense side of my mind.

Anyway, since a lot of this has to be watched on-line at the Court-TV site, that's where I will be.:D

BETH, so so happy that you will be on that plane Sunday. I'll be praying you all the way home.

CINDY, thank G d your hand is healing...great news!! WooHoo and BON VOYAGE!!!

Love and Good Wishes for All of You.:grouphug:

So thrilled the hand is cooperating. Take it as a good omen, and drive. Sounds like you are just about ready to take to the open road.

Thank goodness the weather is cooler here to, barely the 80's, 70's all weekend and dipping to the 60's on Monday (I'll be gone). Guess I should check the weather in OH. :D

I'll be ready to party will you soon. Got nearly all my stuff shipped today. He even took me to the post office and out to lunch today. I had to drive him across town where he left his car. Decided to drink during and after dart league last night. At least he was smart enough to not drive home.

Got spaghetti arms from lugging boxes. Going to chill today. MS group and lunch with the girls tomorrow. Last minute packing. Then Sunday on the plane to the future. Woo Hoo!

Cheryl: Sorry about Holly, but good to know she'll recover. Did I tell you that my older Doxie, Maggie has Lymphoma? I am so sad, but she's doing ok right now..

I have been helping my Sis w/my Mom's sale. Lots of hard work and pretty emotional, but has to be done. I've been sweating like a "swine".

I'm leaving in the morning. I'll start uploading pics and put the link in my profile as soon as there's something worth looking at. They have some webcams in some of the national parks now, I'll try to let you all know when I'll be going so you can assign shifts to watch for me.;):D

I didn't have my Grandkids visit today. They are all sick. My DD came and brought me some groceries, but went straight home and to bed. She had Diahrea all day yesterday and then the littlest one threw up all over her. That's the only thing I hate about school starting...all the germs brought home.

So, RW how's the weekend?

Funny...I keep hearing Randy Newman in my head :p

The weekend was fine, didn't get much actual work done, had doc appts and dental for both of us that blew our cleanup schedule. I did, however, get to see my only neighbors from the "good" side of the island.

I also SCORED majorly when one of them took me out behind her camp and showed me what she had under her porch and told me to help myself to ALL the extra water pipe she has stacked under it!! So we will have the water all the way up the hill to my camp!! YAY!! No more hauling 5 gallon buckets uphill!!

My other island neighbor showed me her new toy, a gas fired hot shower!! I just can't keep up!! I may, however, win for the very first time ever, the annual "Outhouse Award" for the beautiful thang that is now my 2 seater!!!

( I cannot believe I am excited over an outhouse)

AfterMyNap 09-10-2007 08:25 PM

Hi :Wave-Hello: Everybody

I'm finally checking after the move to Ohio. And wouldn't you know it's been rainy ever since. But that's ok cuz Denver is colder and rainier. ha ha

I'm feeling like I'm not quite anywhere. I'm at my sisters, but my Dad wants me to move in with him next door. I'm thinking it's a good idea. No smoke or dogs, I'm allergic. He's going to buy a mattress for my room. Then I can start moving. Living out of a suitcase still. That is contributing to my unsettled state.

I see everyone got AMN off to a safe trek of the country. Good, good, good.

I hope all our 'sickies" are feeling better finally. How's everyone doing? Did I miss any good stuff?

Glad to be back with you all. Check in later.

Judy2 09-11-2007 06:43 PM

Hey there everyone!

I'm finally here.....still feeling pretty yucky from the roids (I think). Usually by now there's a difference for the better. Maybe being this time I was in a flare??? Still have some floaters in my left eye, but no more lights. Feel really weak, tired, blah......you name it.

Can't believe I'm sitting here actually thinking of closing the window! The wind is going crazy and it's "chilly". Wow -- haven't used that word in a long time!

Glad you had a safe trip Beth, and all the best in your new life! Give it time.....after 24 years, it took me quite awhile to feel some semblance of normalcy.

So AMN is off on her adventure! Have lots of fun but take it easy on yourself. Hope to hear from you along the way.

Sally.....thanks for asking. Yep, I remember those days when the kids were little and just starting school. Every germ that came along was passed around the family.....bleah. Now they're going through the same thing with their kids. I'm waiting for my groceries tomorrow!!

Hope everyone has as good a week as possible. Have to get busy and pay some bills -- the tax man cometh. :(

Take care......

tovaxin_lab_rat 09-13-2007 10:24 AM

Judy - sorry you aren't getting past the 'roids. Sometimes it takes me two weeks to get over them. I've only had them about 25 times over the past 6 years...and not just the one day pulses either, 3 days of them.

Hope you get better soon...
