Smile Moved

Hi everyone,

Well, I moved into my new digs on Monday and am still trying to recover. I spent 45 minutes out in the hot Florida sun trying to flag down the movers....the original Dumb and Dumber. I live on a 3 X 4 mile island in public housing, they are movers and couldn't find the place.

The phone man was supposed to be here in the afternoon and when I walked up the street to watch for the movers, at 8:45AM, the phone guy was here.

The movers decided it was easier to carry over all my stuff with their handcarts as it was only 3 buildings away so I was at the old apt. and they made trips back and forth. So, I was not here to say put this here, put this there. so when they were done and I finally came over....well, my heavy microwave was in the bedroom and both window air conditioners were in the bedroom....there is only one window in the bedroom!! I'm slowly getting things put away. I was without A/C for 3 days waiting for maintenance to come install them and with heat index, it was like 100 degrees out. It was miserable and luckily, I have 3 fans.

Good news is that they didn't destroy any of my electronics, both A/cs still work and I won a 1 1/2 year battle with Medicaid because when Medicare D began, they took away my full Medicaid which I needed for transportation to specialists in Miami (135 miles) as there are none in the Keys and I needed my eye care back. Finally after 1 1/2 years, I found a federal law that proved they took it away from me illegally 4 weeks ago and now have my full Medicaid with my Medicare, etc. It pays not to give up.

Yay Margie
Glad to hear the move is behind you, the a/c is hooked up and you won your medicaid victory. What a great week. Well done. I'm so glad you shared your week. Now, kick back, relax and enjoy your new digs.

Moving is brutal, it doesn't matter who it is! I'm so glad it's over for you! How do you like it in the new hood?

Hiya Margie! Nice to meet you. I see the Lunatic Squad has already done the "meet and greet" so I'll do my flyover and make sure they haven't done any real harm to you! (yes I am a real pilot!)

I've been to the Keys this time of year, not exactly the best time to move, but having been a Navy wife for 20 years, I discovered there really isn't any good time to move! Just do it and get it over with! LOL!

Hope you do well in your new location! Sunsets are beautiful in the Keys, and well worth the time spent there! I do miss them...tradition, tradition, tradition! Peach flavored vodka! Ah....lovely. I like the cranberry flavored myself. The citrus isn't bad either!

Watch out for DM's brownies...especially if she is in a particurlarly quirky mood! They can keep you going, and going and going! LOL!

Yep, this is a great place.

Lol, the new hood is only 3 buildings away but it is much quieter here. Even though it is building number 1, it is at the end and when you go out my front door, there are no other apartments. There is a pretty good sized lawn and then a chain link fence that holds in the Navy/Coast Guard bases.

I am enjoying it.

Thumbs up You all have made me smile

Well, I have been trying since January (with Dr's letter) to get housing to move me into a first floor apartment. Finally, a guy from HUD told me what to do...send certified letter asking for reasonable accomodations and tell them what I want. It worked, today I found out my new apartment ready for me and it is the one I want, YAHHHOOOO!!!

Now, to get moved. It is only 2 buildings away but because of my bad health, I can barely do anything. I hired movers and they will be here Mon. morning. The county sends me a homemaker and on Thursdays she is here 4 hours so we....more like she....can finish packing...I did a little packing and will do more between now and Monday. It is so hot out...I feel MS symptoms coming back next week.

I will break down my computer Mon early AM and they are supposed to turn it on at the new place on Monday afternoon...so hopefully will be on-line Monday night.

Any suggestions?

Margie

Sounds great, Margie! That will make life much better for you, congrats!

Suggestions? Why yes! Get yourself a little something to toast the new digs and celebrate your victory!
