You all are so wonderful, and I truly enjoyed and appreciate your responses.
Chris-- I do understand what you mean about balance issues. Though so far I have a case of "MS Lite",shortly before my DX in '93 I was experiencing visual disturbances resulting in 'vertical diplopia' ; the kind of double vision where images were one atop the other unless I moved my chin up or down to line them up.(I was in a bowling league at the time.. and, seeing two set of pins, was the only one getting the occasional 20 pin strike! ![]() Curious--Thanks for the tips. Yep-- I've always got my little water canteen handy.I'm not doing anything too radical , and the Y is familiar with MS and the trainers understand the issues at hand, so they do watch out for people like us. Even in January-- where everyone and their brother are in resolution mode, the place is not awfully crowded, so we are getting good individual attention. I thought I'd be in a lot of pain today-- but only felt slightly achy, so when I went out for some errands I walked to and fro--got some fresh air and all's well. And as for Chocolate-- YESSS--the darkest chocolate in small amounts. I have it with my afternoon tea-- (Chris, I'm from a British family-- Dad born in Wales, Mum in India-- her Dad ran a tea plantation in Mysore) All my life,TEA has been essential--morning, afternoon and sometimes at night--- dark and strong, with milk and a bit of sugar, please. ![]() Cindy-- loved the treadmill clip..So far I've avoided that particular mishap. ![]() Thanks all, and take care. Cheers, Bronwen |

My Mum was born in Wales. Her family moved into London when she was a young girl. I was riased in an area of London called "Richmond Hill". Wales is lovely. Have you been there?

I've been several times and was there last May actually-- My Dad passed away(here in LA) just over a year ago at 87, and while my boyfriend Bruce and I stayed with my extended family there, we scattered a portion of the ashes on a lovely green hill overlooking Aberystwyth(with several dozen lovely sheep peering at us!).This was where Dad went to University, and was a place he dearly loved.I,too, absolutely adore Wales, and it's so lovely to have family there to put me up whenever I want to visit.

Hey MSBee~ Actually, I live in a teensy weensy lil town, so I have to drive to another town to go to a Y or club. I used to manage a Curves and it was really a great wkout, until my sx's got too wacky.
Now, I have an Urban Rebounder, which is totally cool, as if you walk on it, it actually "rebounds" your foot back up, so you don't have to work so hard. It also has a stablizer bar, which I hold on to. I had seen it advertised on TV, and found it at Penneys. I absolutely love it and since I have Osteoporosis pretty severe in spine/hips, my Dr 100% endorses it. I think it's just finding an exercise or type of "movement' that matches each person. I wish I had the patience to do Yoga, as have heard so much positive feedback on it. Good luck.....

Hey Daisy-- I checked out the Urban Rebounder online-- it looks pretty cool, and kinda fun, too.If the gym thing doesn't work for me, I'll get one! So far though,I'm liking it a lot at the Y. I've been doing a good amount of, at this point, very moderate cardio on the treadmill, along with the Yoga-lates classes. What I much prefer about this class ,as opposed to aerobics, spinning or step, etc., is that it's calming and more passive in it's approach..no peppy commands being yelled out--In an atmosphere of low lighting and soothing music, each movement demonstrated by the instructor seems to flow one into the next, yet I'm using muscles I didn't know I had! And it's a great pre-cardio stretch!I just paid for 6 months up front-- so let's hope I stick with it!
