Leann-
As an add-on to the meds you try, you may want to give biofeedback a try. I learned how to do it using a computer program in a college class I took. The professor was a pain and sports psychologist - so he was very into the mind-body connection. In cases of extreme pain, he couldn't make it go away, but he could help people control their response to it and it ceased to control their life (sounds new-agey, but it wasn't at all). One of his chronic patients came in and it was amazing how the things he taught had really helped her. Just a thought in case you hadn't heard of it.
