Default Does anyone on Copaxone suffer from Insomnia ?

I've been Copaxone for 3 months and for the last several days,I'm not sleepy at night at all I'm wide awake and I can't figure it out. I've had to resort to taking Tylenol PM at night just to get a good night's sleep I don't want to get addicted to the drug and then feel like I can't go to sleep without it. I also take baclofen but only a small dose 10 mgs at bedtime. Maybe it's stress I don't know I did read the copaxone brochure that comes with my medicine when it's delevered and it say in 2 percent of patients it talks about insomnia and or sleep disorders. And copaxone also causes dry month too,I went to the dentist last week for a check-up and it's not good.I have early peridontal disease at my last check-up most of my teeeth were 2's and now I have 4's and one tooth is a 5 and I need about 6 teeth deep cleaned they have to numb me up and they clean under the gums or something like and it costs alot of money and I have No dental insurance. The hygentist said alot of people with auto-immune diseases suffer from alot of dental problems. I guess it could be stress as I am stressed out about all this. Thanks for listening Kristi.

hi kristi,

i've been on copaxone for almost 5 yrs.
i have fibromyalgia and have a sleep disorder associated with that.

i've had severe problems sleeping but i don't think it's the C.
i'm on sleep meds.

you can't get addicted to Tylenol PM. the active sleep ingredient in it is benadryl. probably 25mg per tablet.

i'd just let your dr know about this change and see what he says.
make sure you follow the directions and don't take more than the recommended dose of Tylenol. overdoses can affect the liver.

and, having dry mouth can affect your teeth. i'm on a lot of meds that can cause dry mouth. however, your DDS can prescribe some oral meds that help with dryness. i can't remember if it's Rx or OTC. you can also ask your pharmacist.

i'd also talk to your dr about your oral problem. he might be able to make suggestions for you.

Hello Kristi,
I've never taken Copaxone, but since I hear many people take their injections at night (I did when I was on Betaferon), perhaps you could try taking it in the morning and see if that helps?

There is a prescription mouth rinse that your DDS can prescribe for "dry mouth syndrome". Many women suffer from dry mouth and dry eye syndrome who are not diagnosed with MS. There are several different ones available, and I don't believe that they are too steep in price.

All the best,
Chris

I've been taking Copaxone for just a little longer than you have, and yes. I have had some sleeping problems for the past 2 or 3 months. But, I had sleeping problems before that too.

My insomnia has come and gone and come again off and on for the past 10 or 15 years. Altho, the past month or two it's been the worst it's ever been.

I've been trying to do my shots in the mornings or afternoons, but I forget sometimes and dont get them done till just before bed then.

My insomnia is starting to get a bit better recently. Lately it's been more of a problem staying asleep once I've fallen asleep. I'll sleep a few hours and then wake up every few hours (or more often)

I've been here. Actually posting...at least 3 posts today.

I'm trying to get up the nerve to do my shot. I hit that vein last week, and last night, I injected into a muscle or a nerve and my leg has been reminding me to check the schematic before I poke myself again tonight. It's tired of it actually hurting. I think I'm doing my stomach tonight...it'll sting there, but probably not as bad as injecting into a vein or a muscle.
