Cindy,
I'm glad you got some relief - I've had this happen before and it's not fun - especially not knowing when or if relief will happen. I just wanted to add - I'm so glad that we can all laugh about it. I know it's not really funny when it happens to us (and it's definitely not fun) - but having a sense of humor about it can actually reduce the stress and anxiety we all feel. I loved your little rhyme - and Riverwild's congratulation speech!!!:D |

I have never had it happen, and pray that I will not experience this problem. Talk to your neuro about this. Let us know what his advice will be. Jappy :hug: |
Oh Cindy,
I have to do intermittent self-catheterization twice a day because I started to experience this several years back. I thought I was emptying my bladder but apparently each time I went, it was not emptying completely. I was referred to a Urologist and underwent Urodynamics and I was holding more than 100 cc's of urine at times. They decided to teach me the SIC then, and I've been doing it twice daily ever since. Now, I don't fret that I'm not emptying my bladder completely because I know that twice a day I will be cathing. I was getting urinary spasms at the time, and I haven't had them since then either. Perhaps you need an evaluation by a Urologist. If they do suggest SIC, it really isn't so bad. I'm so used to it by now, that I don't think about it. I just do it every morning and every night after I brush my teeth. I'm glad you were finally able to go. But, this is not a symptom that I would take lightly, it's just part of our lives. |
