Hi, I'm starting to look for a book holder that I can use to hold books as I read. My arms get extremely weak real quick any more and find it difficult to read in bed and even just to hold it while sitting in a chair.
I did a google search and found a lot of them so I figured I would come to the experts. Do any of you have one that you would recommend? Oh, and I would not want to spend a lot right now..money seems to be tight like it is for most Americans. Thanks

Hey, Sass, I went through all of this a few years ago, cookbook stands, I built a mini-Thomas Jefferson book carousel and everything. I landed on the perfect thing for about 10 bucks. They're called "weighted bookmark" but no way would I cram one into the folds of a book.
It's a perfect size and weight to hold the book open, not heavy to carry and durable leather. I recommend it highly. They generally come in 2 sizes, a smaller one and a larger one meant for cookbooks, etc. I have the small one and it works just fine for larger books. I got mine at Barnes & Noble about 15 years ago and it has held up beautifully. Here's a pic: http://www.amazon.com/Maxi-Aids-Weig.../dp/B00014VVWQ

I second the weighted bookmark. I've got mine over 12 years ago, and is very worn. I even use it to hold my sudoku puzzle books and magazines open. I got stopped at airport security because they couldn't identify it. It was scary
![]() I also have a lap desk, beanbag type bottom, hard top (leather like). And most importantly raised edges, so stuff won't roll off. I use to hold my books and meals etc.. Dad got it for me for xmas. It came in handy after my ankle sprain and spent my waking hours on the couch.

Does it work when book is propped on pillow in bed? Thanks, Cindy!

If it is, it's the old fashioned kind without the adhesive (which would make it better for the books. I was going to suggest that too, Sassy. They're great! I don't have one, but I know people who use them.

I found a book holder at the thrift (fancy words for used crap) store - 1 buck. Made out of lucite and designed for holding cookbooks on the counter. They had several book holders in a variety of styles and quality.
