Erin, so sorry about your fall Sometimes falls can happen in a blink of an eye.

Take things slow and easy. Many people with MS cannot use crutches due to poor balance - balance is required when using crutches.

I just woke up (after 2hrs sleep)

My knee is swollen so badly right. I'm starting to question the diagnosis. I cant stand on it at all. I could last night. I just had to crawl out to the stairs, somehow got myself on the stair chair and go get the 2nd crutch. I cant put ANY weight on my knee and leg.

All the pain and ginormous swelling is centered on the right side of the knee, right above it. Ever get a pulled muscle and end up getting a big knot of muscle right above your knee and feeling like you cant move the knee at all. I wonder if a baclofen would relax the muscles there. I also have flexeril (another muscle relaxer) I wonder if one of those would help.

It hurts so bad right now, I just want to be very very very ill. I've had broken bones, ruptured achilles tendons and multiple concussions and I've never had pain so bad that I want to vomit. (some of the sick feeling could be that I only had 2hrs of sleep, I get sick feeling when I dont get enough sleep sometimes)

Hopefully I dont have to really be ill, because there's no way I'll be making it to the bathroom in time.

There is absolutely no way for me to get to my neuro appointment now. I know now that I cant drive with this knee, and I refuse to let my mom drive my car. (she hasnt driven since 2002)

At least I can move my foot and toes and there's no numbness in my lower leg. I wish I had numbness in my knee now. I'm about to go crawl outside and lay down in the snow to try to get the swelling down.

Right now, this sucks. I hope my mom comes down to check on me when she gets up, because I'm going to have her bring me every icepack I have in the freezer...and adjust my sock, because it got all twisty while I was sleeping and now it's driving me nuts...and I cant bend the knee to even get it off.

I'm attempting sleep again and hoping that I'll be able to move my knee by the next time I wake up.

I'm so sorry about your fall! Oh the crutches. They are awful. I have LOTS of experience with them LOL. After a while, you do build up calluses on your hands and then it doesn't hurt your hands very much.

Are you allowed to put any weight on your leg? If you can, the rollator sounds like a great idea.

If your balance is crappy, be really careful with the crutches! Especially when trying to use just one crutch. I have fallen from using crutches before I was diagnosed. Icing on the cake when your already messed up .

Hope you feel better soon!

I havent had any balance issues...even when I had bad vertigo last summer, I still had pretty good balance.

They told me I could put weight on my leg, but now I'm thinking that I need to avoid putting weight on it at all. They said I'd be sore this morning, but this is more than sore. I'm staying in bed today and I think I'll only be getting up to use the potty.

Can injuries like this trigger a little MS flare? I am feeling really weird this morning. (that could be the pain and lack of sleep tho)

I'm so sorry about your fall Erin. I'd definately stay off of it for a couple days. I think you need a little bell so you can ring for room service!

Erin, sounds like you're having a tough time of it! If your knee doesn't seem to be getting better, you might consider having an orthopedic doctor take a look at it. I'm surprised the ER didn't recommend you doing so.

Try and take it easy. It sounds like you're really banged up. Take it easy and take as much help as you can get.

Erin! Please be careful and definitely adopt those rollators into your fleet!!! I tore my rotator cuff in a brutal fall, and it's just not worth it to resist assistance devices. Just imagine how hard it would be to get around and function with a broken bone, especially if you are prohibited from weight bearing on it!

Any time I have broken or injured myself, yes, it seemed like I was having some increased symptoms. I think for me it was a combination of the physical shock to the system and my stressed reaction to the whole thing.

Take care of yourself for our sakes, okay???!!!!
