Speaking of things to assist you around the home. Does anyone here have a handicapped accessible bathroom or have you coverted one lately? We were in the process of building a home and the builder went bankrupt. We are now looking to buy an exisitng home, but both my husband and I think we ought to have a handicapped accesible bathroom "just in case". We've also thought about decreasing the height of some of the counters in the kitchen, so that whilst I am doing preparations in the kitchen I could be sitting on a chair or stool.

Does anyone have any links to share with good plans or any suggestions that would be helpful to us.

Thanks!

Boy, I seem to remember an article, maybe in InsideMS mag a few issues back, the feature story was about an accessible home that showed no typical "signs" of accessibility and it was beautiful and beautifully done. I'll see if I can find that for you, it was very impressive.

My sissy is an interior designer and is involved in the universal design models innovation game. I'll ask her to get me some stuff for you.

When I win the lottery, you will FREAK at the place she designed for me, it even has a Williamsburg fireplace!

Does one have to buy lottery tickets to win the lottery? OK....when you win the lottery and you have that wonderful place designed for you, you must move to a warmer climate. You know the cold is no good for you. We could use a flying Nanny around here as it is.

Chris .. in our last Momentum magazine (or the one before it) had an article about companies that work on redesigning homes ... I'll post the address ... and the lady has been emailing me - and is absolutely wonderful!!

they work especially with people needing better accessability!! good luck!!

p.s. they are actually helping me design my lighthouse to be accessible for myself and for my friends (hint hint) ... then I can have company!!! wa-hooooo!!!

ABOUT WRITING AND PENS: I found this ergonomic pen (and you can get it at WallyWorld or Walgreens ... ) ... it's shaped like a Y ... my girlfriend got a free-bie from her arthritis doctor ... then I tried it! my fingers don't hurt or go numb ...

so, I'm going to design up something for a crochet hook and see if I can make it work more comfortable .. then PATENT it!! LOL

I used to take orders for products sold by that company (among a few hundred other products made by other companies plus credit card applications) and most of the junk you see for sale on tv is crap.
