I just started PT today - maybe it's because I'm my age - but the guy started me out slowly - trying to get my hips, legs and feet to do what they're supposed to do - when they're supposed to do it - can't wait until we get to balance - it's always fun to fall in public - he put me on a machine that you push treadles sort of like a recumbent bike - that was fun - I know from past experience with PT that you can train new groups of muscles to do the work of the ones that have failed - keep at it you'll be back in a kayack in no time - maybe run down Socatean for practice !

I'll do it in April if you go with me! LOL! It should be about 40 degrees by then!

right now - the lake is frozen ... but my neighbor has one of those 'treadle' paddle-boats ... I may use it this summer - but, I'm afraid that I'll get out to the middle of the lake and not have the energy to peddle back to shore ..
BUT - last summer, I went on a couple canoe rides ... and let my arms do the work - I felt like a million bucks when we got in ... I didn't have to stress out my legs ... and just the walk back home was enough for me! I want a canoe for my birthday! LOL
I know you're knee deep in snow for awhile yet ... maybe one of those treadle-paddle boats would be a fun exercise to work into your routine!

Just walking to the car is enough for me right about now! It's the ICE! We have one of those paddle boats, it's a double and it ain't easy to do by yourself! My side keeps sinking!

So far so good.
I spent most of the time between the parallel bars trying to stand and walk without doing my weeble imitation.
The exercises to strengthen my left arm actually felt good.
I was a little sore the next day, but not too bad.
Unfortunately, the therapist and I have decided that I must give up my dreams of becoming a prima ballerina.
I wish I could find a water exercise program.
I really would enjoy that.
Best of Luck to you and hope the therapy helps.

Risby, The ballerina comment just cracked me up! Gotta warn me to swallow the coffee first when you do that!
I am glad to hear I am not the only one in this! Keep posting your successes and rants! I'm right there with you all!!
