Koala

I KNEW IT! I had a big toe injury yesterday and should have known that it was telling me that my friend down under was having a bad day!

I was clomping around in my snow boots at the park with my dogs and did a mis-step. Somehow my big toe got twisted and I though it was broke! I guess I just hypoextended it tho, as it's much better today.

Good news at the Neuro, glad your brain is co-operating!

You are not alone in those mood swings, Anne. The more I consider it, the more I think it is pretty normal to have bouts of depression. Hell, it we were young and carefree, we'd be feeling fine. But we aren't. The body begins to break down and take away that freedom we once had and it seems a good reason to have some bad feelings about it all.

Grateful for you and others here helping thru the bumps of life....

Sooo sorry about your fall. It sounds awfully painful, but considering, you probably got off really lucky.

As for the toe, I have also broken many toes. Too many times to count. But I've always broken the smaller ones. And now I'm the say way, wrap a couple toes together...and voila! Six weeks later your toes is all better...even if it does now have a strange bump on it :-)

I do know from breaking my elbow, that breaks in/around joints can be bad because as the bones grows back together you get outgrowths of bone that can (depending on where they are located) inhibit joint mobility.

Now that might not be as important in a big toe as an elbow, but something that should be considered. As your big toe is so important for balance. Your doctor might be the only person that would be able to tell if it would be a problem.

Just something to consider...

Thats what happened when I shattered my big toe, the joint (the one near the toe nail) grow together and I can't bend that toe like I use to. I can walk just fine because it wasn't the joint near the foot.

Aww Koala
So sorry to hear about your fall and the big toe too. I am glad to hear the neuro visit went so well.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery and safe picking of the lemons. Have you seen a doc for that toe yet?

Thank you every one for your good wishes, for the hugs, and the cute pictures.... including the Koala Cayo.......... You're all so kind.

I'm pretty sore and sorry for myself today. I've got patches all over....even a bright yellow bandaide (the only patch I had that was the right size), adhered to a little finger. The great toe doesn't look or feel any better, so I guess it must be bruck!!

Sorry to any one else who's hurting today as well.

Oh! ..... and there was no ladder Kay. I managed to do all that damage without any props at all!

Then you're even MORE talented than I suspected.

Yuck, yuck, and double yuck!! (and I ain't a laughin' here) Broken toes rot major monkey guts. They're constant reminder that something just isn't right because no matter how you try to stand on your foot, the little buggers HURT!!

I know how you feel about the whole thing. Came back from the neuro visit at Hopkins where my neuro exam was "unremarkable" and bent over to pick my shoes up and almost fell on my head. Sure. I can balance. Right. Just watch me in action when I'm NOT by the neuro.....

Emotional lability (although it IS a liability at times) stinks too. I hate the ups and downs of this thing. Gee, I feel like I wear my heart on my sleeve anymore and it stinks. See, I'm not a wussy girl and have never been one. So crying at things is just plain weird for me.

This is so much fun, huh?

As Cayo said, "Water off a duck's back, baybee." Roll with it....

Heal quickly and do get checked just to make sure it isn't fractured so badly that you'd need surgery.
