Okay, the last few days I have had this on and off tight/sore feeling around my ribs mostly up by where my breasts are.
I can't wait to come home and rip my bra off and that helps a teensy bit. Could this be the hug? The worst part is by the sides of my boobs and under my arm area but around that part where a bra would be. These are bras that are fairly new but I've been wearing for a few months so it's not the bra. Sometimes I move my arm and there's this extra twinge of pain for the moment. Does anyone else ever have something like this? Thanks, Weebs PS: I am having some numbness/burning pain in my hands for about three weeks or so. Is this related, perhaps? |

I've read that some people have that... but mine was only around my waist...
like, a sort of very tight cloth sash, or a wide belt, kind of pinching me. I felt like Scarlett O'Hara getting laced into a corset, and grimacing. very awkward, sort of painful. that was back in, (um, lemme think...) 1992, and I never got the hug again.

When I get the hug, I have that same feeling about ripping the bra off. It relieves it a bit. However, mine is down a little lower that where you are describing; right around the band area of the bra and below.
With the tightness that you are feeling and the numbness and tingling, I would encourage you to call your neuro. It sounds like you may be in a flare. ![]() I do hope that you start feeling better soon. Let us know what we can do to help you through this. |

Thanks everyone for your help!
I don't think this is a new flare necessarily, just a slow and steady worsening of symptoms and some new ones thrown in there for good measure. Plus, it's a stressful time of the year for me, end of the school year. I was off Rebif for about 7 weeks and am now back on for 4 shots so I am hoping that maybe that will get things working better. We'll see what the next blood tests show in another week regarding liver enzymes. I wouldn't call my neuro's office as I am now shuffled off to the NP who finds it mostly unimportant to call me back. I had another round of IVSM in April and that didn't do me any good. Not doing them again unless something is truly horribly wrong that can't be ignored or medicated away. Thanks again, Weebs |

Yep, I go without a bra when my spinal lesions act up. In fact, I often can't wear pants, zippers, buttons, seams, a wrinkle in my bed sheet . . .
That feeling can occur where-ever anything, including human touch, accesses the affected body part. For me, the sensation is a cross between burning and being scrubbed down with a steel wool pad. ![]() I know it's the hug if the sensation is felt on the surface, or in the meat under the skin. Internal organs/muscles don't hurt from the hug, at least not for me, but I do a sense of (painful) numbness with the hug too. Cherie

Cherie very good descriptions. For me the only pain with the internal organs is when my stomach starts going in to spasms. Extremely uncomfortable and eating solids during that time is not an option for me. I have gotten very creative with my smoothies.
