Dear Sally,
All I can offer you is positive thoughts and to keep you in my prayers. I am a certified dental phobic. Heck! It takes two Klonopin just to get me in the doors and then a Seraquil to sit in the chair. By the time they're done with the simplest procedure with me my whole back of my pants and shirt are soaked with sweat. Have you had high doses or regular use of steroids? This can weaken the teeth as it leaches the calcium from the bones and makes the brittle. Just a thought. Either way Sally I'm sorry this is happening to you and I would never want it to happen to me. If it does I'll just OD on the meds and drink a pint of Wild Turkey before I go in. Even then I will have them knock me out totally. Again, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. |
Thanks AGR and Craig.:) Of course, you are both right...."This too shall pass". I just wish I could twitch my nose and it's over...KWIM?
I appreciate your support and sympathy...Waaaaaaaaa!! I'll try to report in tomorrow, after it's over. Hugs, |
Good luck, Sally. Wishing you a speedy procedure and recovery.
My youngest has some sort of disease process going on with her baby teeth; her body was eating the roots away, so the teeth just fell away bit by bit. In order to hang on to some of them, she had to have 11 root/canals & caps put on at age 3 1/2, but I put it off till she was 5 cause I couldn't bear to have her go through so much, so young. We had her put out, and I am glad we went this route. She woke up in no pain, and none the wiser. :) You'll be fine, hun! Cherie |
Sally,
I had eight teeth pulled this past March. All the back teeth and partial dentures made. This was done for the same reason you are having yours done. My teeth kept breaking! The dentist said he wasn't aware of it being an MS thing and had never heard of interferon (I take rebif and have for three and a half years) causing this. I still believe in my heart that it is connected. I never had a problem until about two years ago. Best of luck to you tomorrow, if I can do it..........You can!! I am the worlds biggest chicken and look I lived to tell!!:) The gauze is the most bothersome! Will be thinking about you tomorrow, it will be over before you know it!! Take Care.............Barb |
Hi Sally,
Just speaking from experience, I hope you have soft food on hand for awhile. I have full dentures, due to the same problems you are having, although long before MS. I thought I'd never see the day when I would be able to eat crackers again, let alone raw veggies. Just think of what a great smile you will have when it's all over. You will be in my thoughts and prayers, too. bnz2 |
praying you will fine!!!
HI sally just saw this, like ms wasn't engough for us. you are a trooper!!!! I have always feared going to the dentist, don't know why. But I go get the procedure done and after think why was I so scared, it is nothing like when I was a kid. They have come so far in treatment, meds etc.. and are so more knowledable than in the 60's. But my idea is if we can go to the moon why can't we find new ways for treamtents etc...??? You will be fine... Also it will be beter than getting absesses... Let us know how you feel afterward adn treat yourself to something fun. You deserve it!!! BIg huge hugs, CHristine

Versed is a wonderful drug, IMO. I cannot imagine anyone enduring 12 extractions at one time without some kind of true sedation...adult extractions can be tricky, as the tooth can split, and that makes it more difficult. The only downside I experienced was that I had to pay for the sedation (not that I would have let that stand in the way of my sleeping through the entire procedure). :) |
It really helped me when I had recent dental work done to have a nice warm comfy afghan over me. I really relaxed all nice and warm. Good luck
