HI Brain~!
Tho I am not a heavy sleeper I have noticed over the last several months doing the same thing. REminds me of what you go through in preparation for childbirth and being UP with that little one. I took it as spiritually getting ready for my new job where I do have to get up early..ugh. But menapause does this as well. Or.. who knows... Hope you get your much needed rest and soon!! Jan |

for me, if it's really humid out - I get muscle spasms that will wake me up. Took me a long time to figure it out until I had one that kept twitching when I woke.
![]() Hope your not in for another bout of insomnia. ![]()

I've always been a light sleeper...well, ever since my first child was born 25 years ago! Ever since then I've slept with one eye open. I've always been an early bird, though.
I started having the sleep interruptions every two hours. I'd sleep for two hours, wake up and it would take me 30 minutes to an hour to go back to sleep. I think as we get older our bodies are adjusting to the change and sleep is one of the things affected. Just my take on it - nothing scientific to prove it. I've tried not to get too wrapped up in it because I know I can take a nap if needed (tho I'd rather sleep at night and not during the day). Seems the more I stress about it the worse I sleep. I've tried Advil PM and Somenex and they both made me sleepy but neither kept me asleep. I had a prescription for Ambien but my Neuro told me not to take it every night as it messes up the sleep hormones. ![]() ![]() ![]() Good luck - and let us know if you find something that works for you!

Brain, sorry you are dealing with this.... hope it isn't insomnia either. I get up every hour or so but have been doing it for quite some time due to spasms. Good Luck!

At least you're falling back to sleep. That's a good thing. But it still stinks.
I can go through bouts of that too. Sometimes, too, my body clock decides to reset itself. I used to work a lot of midnight shifts. I'll end up finding myself drifting back in bedtime because I can't fall asleep. Or if I do, I wake up just like you're describing. The only thing that helps me is to stay awake for about a 24 hour period. That seems to reset things. Have you tried getting up in the middle of the night for a while and just doing quiet stuff like reading or writing? When that used to happen to me all the time (after my car accident), I would get up and get a nice cup of herbal tea and read. I'd be up a couple of hours and then go back to sleep. Hope you get it figured out! You may need to be creative. ![]()

Thanks for the replies everyone.
So far it's nothing more than annoying. It's not interrupting my life. It's not even affecting how much I dream - which is still a whole lot of crazy stuff. Last night, I graduated a language program for the police, went to Clay Center to visit my (late) grandma ![]() No wonder I'm tired. ![]()
