Default So my colposcopy results

Came back showing a lot of cell changes apparently, confirmed that I have HPV (wasn't really a surprise, reading how many people have this) and that I will have to go have laser surgery to remove the affected cells.

Anyone out there gone this extra step (laser) after having a colposcopy?

I can't believe the clinic never called me back as they said they would. They just simply got the results. My family doctor looked them up and told me the news.

She did confirm they did biopsy and that this doesn't mean cancer. So that's a relief at least.

I've been sexually 'inactive' for 4 years or more now.... and I always practiced safe sex. Go figure. But I guess HPV can actually still get around such precautions regardless.

Hey dmplaura~ AYUP, had a colposcopy in my 30's due to cell changes. *53 now*

I had lasor tx and outside of cramping, I walked out and went home to rest. *after going out for breakfast w/DH*

I know many women friends who have had the loop procedure, freezing or lasor for the same result. I think the lasor is a good way to treat it. They automatically do a bx when they see anything that requires a colposcopy, so NO, it doesn't mean it is serious. But, always a good idea to get it taken care of.

You'll do just fine and keep us posted.

Oh I shall

On the MS front today (wow, I forgot about my MS for a millisecond woo!), my GP talked to me about my headaches/head pain. She figures what I describe is the MS.

My neuro had actually suggested she try me on Lyrica. She chuckled and said, "I haven't seen many good results with Lyrica". So I asked about Topiramate, but she said this would not be a good idea to try, since I have had side effects on Carbamazepine and Neurontin in the past.

So she's prescribed me Clonazepam (Rivotril in Canada, Klonopin for those in the US). She figures my anxiety (which I also discussed) is contributing to the head pains and agrees this is probably also contributing to the burning mouth (which is pretty lousy today, as you can imagine, after hearing about the colposcopy). So I have 30 .5 mg tablets, and can take 1/2 to 1 tablet 3 times daily when needed. I'm going to give the 1/2 tablet a shot for now (good thing I kept my pill cutter!).

HPV is so very common I heard many have it and don't know. I hope everything comes out Ok for you. As DM said, you'll be fine and back to yourself in no time. Hope your headaches are helped by the new med as well.

Thanks ladies. As you can imagine, hearing "oh now you need laser surgery" isn't exactly what's needed with just being diagnosed with MS in March lol .

I already had surgery at 25 for endometriosis!

I'm getting to the point of asking them to just remove all my lady stuff. Would be easier I'm almost thinking.

I had mine removed and it's the best decision I ever made! Oh, Ok, I still have my ovaries but no baby box. Life has been wonderful for me since then! No more migraines, no more aunt Flo visits on a daily basis, no more bloating, no more crankiness, etc...

Can you tell I loved my surgery?

My mom used to say, "They took out the cradle and left the playpen."

Kinda funny way to look at it.

The laser should be no huge deal, as DM said. I had the cryo and it wasn't horrible, bit of cramping and a lovely watery discharge for a couple weeks (gotta wear pads.... blech!!!). Get it done, go rest, you'll be fine!

LMAO!!!!

Hey, what CAN you say to argue you want the cradle out anyways?

I know I've mentioned it to doctors in the past, and they always dispute it. "You're still young, we can't do that now". Yeah, I'm 31, but I still don't want children! Why keep the cradle that's high maintenance if I don't want to have kids?!

I tried to argue that. My doc kept balking and saying it had to be a medical reason for insurance to cover it. Oh I know, but I had really, really heavy periods (still do). Could bleed through a super tampon AND a pad in 30 minutes. Yucky. And it was like that for the first 2-3 days.

Nope. Didn't work.

Dunno what you can say. It sucks being female!
