Ok cyst is infected (well, I kinda knew that!) and so I have a script now for an antibiotic cream to apply to it.

And my doctor's referring me to a specialist to have it removed. YAY! Have to get rid of the infection before they can remove it she says.

I did ask if they'd send it for biopsy, and she said that they always do, so that's good as well .

Oh, and she was very pleased to hear that I'm doing so well on such a low dose of clonazepam (.25mg or .5mg max daily) that she said, "Call if you need that prescription filled, that's excellent to hear the head pain is gone as well!".

So she's no longer questioning giving me that prescription, and she also agreed 100% to have the cyst removed due to location.

Oh yeah, and she said "I'm not surprised to hear you slept like a baby on Clonazepam". She laughed at my mental picture of my bedsheets thrown around the room (was the case previously!)

Hey laura~ I'm seeing this late, but glad that you went to the Dr. My DS has had a couple of cysts that sound like yours. One started out hard and small and then all of a sudden, one day it was red, puffy and extremely sore.

I took him to his transplant surgeon and he removed it immediately and packed it. Like yours, it was full of infection. Glad your'e getting it taken care of. I believe they called it a Sebaceous Cyst. You'll do just fine! *Way to go to be your own advocate*

Thanks DM.

I'm actually looking forward to the procedure of it being removed. I'm such a tomboy when it comes to gross stuff in the body LOL. I'll actually want to see what they pull out

Hope the ab helps and you are feeling better soon. Its a darn crime that MS isn't enough of an ailment for us to have to deal with!

I know they sometimes try to call these type of problems "cosmetic surgery" (i.e. you pay) if it is not a major bother/worry, so the doctors wait till it does potentially pose a health risk in order for you to get it done free. Free is good.

I had some broken blood vessels (can't remember the medical name) on my neck and chest when I went in to have that cyst removed. She threw in burning them off while I was there, so it worked out well.

Good luck!

I sure hope they don't consider it as a cosmetic thing

I believe with doctor referral backing it however, it won't be taken as such. I hope not anyways!

2 infections in a year in it, not a good thing!

Thanks again all

No, they wouldn't now. No doubt that's the reason the doctor somewhat blew it off in the beginning though ("wait and see").

Yeah, that's entirely possible. Probably entirely true. After hour clinics... I don't miss those what so ever. Called my doctor yesterday at 10:30 am, secretary had me in that day.

Picked my cream up today (antibiotic). This is the same stuff I used previously when I had this cyst infected. I also refilled my Amitriptyline.

I don't know what my work insurance did this year for 'changes', but neither medication cost me anything!

Darn, I wish they'd cover Copaxone 100% LOL!
