Today was my 1 cheat day I have every 2 weeks when I go out with coworkers.

Well today, I ordered a chicken wrap (very healthy) and my french fries (like I said, bi-weekly cheat day!) and the food was late and the fries were dreadfully cold.

I sent em back and got new.

It gives credence to the saying "There's a sucker born every minute". Usually attributed to P.T. Barnum but was actually made by a man named Hull in New York.

Aren't we out of snake oil yet?

[QUOTE=sassy;385352]OK, my cousin called me the other night, she had just read a woman cured her MS with her diet.

I'm glad you brought this up. Lively discussion. We need to be educated on what other people are saying.

unfortunately it doesn't matter if its a small town newspaper or an accredited national magazine, the integrity of journalism has and is being compromised by a numbers game. We have seen how many articles posting such rave things to help MS , yet a large number of those articles had not one iota of proof or evidence, instead using hearsay and or assumptions, and Steve this also gives credence to the old saying don' believe everything you read.

Wonder how Cronkite would of viewed an article like this, no sound proof, just speculation, I get a feeling it would of been tossed in the circular bin and not even thought of as a segment

The secret is to ask McDonald's for fries with no salt. Then they have to make new fries just for you. Then as they are handing you your order, ask for salt. lol

Paid for and endorsed by my mother and sister, prior managers at McDonald's.

I said cure is a big word when you talk about it with MS. So, she conceded and said it probably just helped with her MS. She read me part of the article, no red meat ever, no saturated fats, vitamin supplements, etc. I said if we all ate that way we would feel better but still no cure.

So, I bought the magazine today. Title of story is "She cured her MS--with food". I am so mad, why are they allowed to spread this out right lie. Now I will hear from more people that if I just ate right my MS would go away.

And of course I bought a magazine that I don't normally buy just to make myself angry!!

BTW, she, Ivy Larson, wrote a book, The Gold Coast Cure: The 5-week Health and Body Makeover "to help others feel healthier too".
It never hurts to eat well, but the title is beyon misleading.

Maybe she is trying to sell more books. I know my wife's store would never sell such stuff.

I saw a woman in the grocery store isle this morning reading that very article!!!!!!!!!

I simply told her to read the information carefully, there is no proven cure for MS and eating healthy is good for any person. She just looked at me - I asked her if she had MS, she said no but I know someone who does I was going to buy it for her. I said "save your money, don't". Your friend will thank you for it - tell her what you read and you had someone tell you not to purchase the book and see what she says. Let her make the choice to buy it if she feels she wants too. She put the magazine back and said thank you and finished with her groceries. Before she left she looked at me and asked if I had MS, I just nodded my head and she gave me the "I am sorry" smile and said "have a nice day".

I do that sometimes too, but just didnt think this guy was going to make me fresh french fries without doing something horrible to them before he'd hand them over to me.

I worked for McDonald's for 8yrs in the 90's. I've seen what can be done to people's food by employees. (and I turned in every person I saw do something horrible to the food, and stopped the food from getting to the customers... "Opps! I dropped that whole tray...silly me, I'll go remake it all!")

I hate people who feel they have to sabatoge people's food!

Other reason I didnt say anything was because I was trying to figure out if the manager working yesterday was the same girl who was a manager at the store I worked at. (gosh, that was a long time ago. I quit in december of 1996, she'd moved to a different store in 93!) I'm pretty sure that she was someone I worked with, but for the life of me, I cant remember her name!
I was distracted by trying to get my brain to cough up the memory of her name.

I'm pretty sure she recognized me, but probably was having the same problem remembering my name or something.

Poll Journalism $$

I believe Dan Rather got into trouble reporting a story without double checking the facts

I am of the belief that if someone cures MS with food or bee pollen or crystals (what-ever) then they never really had MS to begin with.

I guess in protest we could go to the magazine website and let them know this story is irresponsible!
