No, I don't think oral thrush is that common for people with a good immune system. "Lady" yeast infections are quite common, from using antibiotics. Eating a diet with plain yogurt is good for that, but we don't do much dairy in this house.
![]() I was introduced to thrush when my eldest was a baby. She had a lot of allergies, sinus and ear infections . . . so lots of antibiotics. I was not aware that antibiotics could cause ORAL thrush, but I suppose that makes sense because it can cause "lady" yeast infections. ![]() I am a smoker, and have tried to quit several times. I know that smoking is RECOMMENDED for those who have Ulcerative Colitis, which I have. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it. ![]() Cherie

Oddly, I've been on a lot of antibiotics the last couple years, and I have never had a lady yeast infection that I've been aware of.
When I was much younger I did however! Are those of us with MS living with "good" immune systems though? ![]()

Don't worry about the imbalance from quitting, it will even itself out in time as your body adjusts to its healthier state. ![]()

Well I see oral thrush and I worry about what other crap could be going on in my body.
![]() I did the candida cleanse diet actually in January 08/Feb 08... just prior to my MS diagnosis. Now eating a low fat diet seems like cake compared to the candida diet. Goodness. I have oil of oregano here actually in capsules from before when I was doing that cleanse... but I recall the nutritionist telling me that you don't touch the oil of oregano until you've done the diet for 2 weeks, or you can actually end up very sick from killing off the bad yeast.

I think that diet is over-kill, Laura . . . but just take from it what you find helpful, i.e. try the easy stuff, then see how it pans out for you.

I just thought of something.
![]() You know, it is VERY possible that the burning in your mouth has been caused by this too! When I get oral thrush, my mouth (especially my tongue) burns, and that's how I get to treating it with acidophilis early enough. Cherie
