dmplaura;

I find it interesting that you suffered from canker sores for awhile. I went thru 7 years of having them so bad I could hardly talk. This was pre-MS diagnosis and I was constantly going to the doc begging them for help. I actually was 12 lbs lighter when I suffered from them....it was hard to eat.
At the same time I endured red eyes caused by episcleritis then it all miraculously faded away and I am only bothered once in awhile.
Doctors now think my immune system was under attack and going awry.

Also, quitting smoking can cause cankers sores to pop up too. I have not had a cigarette since Sept 29 (on Chantix).
As for me I would recommend any smoker to try the stuff. After about 2.5 weeks of taking it I suddenly 'forgot' I smoked. Its the magic pill I've been hoping for. Doc says I am having a great reaction to the drug...but I know others who quit with Chantix saying the same thing. I've had a few canker sores pop up too.

I have a friend who swears she got sicker after quitting smoking! Eventually things evened out but it is a real shock to the body and a really tough addiction to kick. I hope you feel better soon. Big Hug

HUGE CONGRATS!! You quit 1 day before me! Glad to hear that you, Debbie and I have all managed to quit this stinky habit this year. That's so awesome. I actually had cravings a bit today, but they were short lived.

I've never heard of Chantix myself, but Clonazepam was definitely my wonder drug for quitting. For sure, by far. I just didn't care about being a smoker anymore. It turned off the care factor in my mind. Makes sense, since it is anti anxiety medication.

In any event, I think we're all amazing people.

I also think it's amazing that after 3 days of virtually liquid diet, I was able to put back a tendergrill from Burger King with lettuce/onion and light mustard without much pain tonight.

So I went to get my depo shot done today, and the doctor that looked at my throat said it looks like it's viral, not strep OR yeast.

It is improving slowly, so if it is viral, it's a waiting game now.

LE SIGH.

If it truly IS viral, what I think I managed to grab I actually read about in an adult's blog...

http://ubow.blogspot.com/

You'll have to scroll a bit, but the important is, what I am hearing her describe here is Herpangina. The pattern she describes of the ulcers, and the nasty pictures I've looked at, definitely look like mine.

My body's beating the crud out of it IF I did manage to pick up this beauty. I haven't had the fever! And the ulcers are running their course. Today eating was not nearly as bad as the last several days were. Whew.

I will finish up the antibiotic/antifungal in any event. Also glad I had Chlorasepctic/Halls here, because that's basically all you can do for a viral infection like this, and they do soothe the pain.

How I picked up something like this.. probably a combination of walk in clinics lately, sitting around hospital waiting rooms, traveling to chicago... I'm going to have to be diligent with the hand washing from now on. Bad Laura, bad!

Well, at least it's not your fault in any way if it is viral.

Hope it clears up soon, Laura. Expect 10 days at least anyway.

Hmm.... from the name, you'd think it involved snakes/lizards and heart palpitations somehow.

Great. Handwashing is a good thing. Sing the whole ABCs whilst using antibacterial soap or it's not going to do you any good--THEN rinse.

The people I used to sit in the library with at school and I (we had desks assigned to us) were stationed near the bathrooms. The professors all used those bathrooms. We always knew which professors we could shake hands with or which ones we should avoid shaking hands with that way.

Is there a particular flavor of Halls you like better than others?

Oh.... I asked my kid and he says yes, he gets a free life subscription and tech support too.
