I'm grateful for your swift responses.

As this has evolved fairly swiftly, I'm hoping that this is an acute phase and there may be some scope for improvement without surgery - I'm doing the yogic lion pose as I type so as to hurry things along.

Just hope that the wind doesn't change - the staring eyes are one thing, but the protruding tongue is another!
