Possible Exposure to Impetigo

Default Possible Exposure to Impetigo
My grandson (who lives with us) has been exposed to impetigo, which I understand is a contagious bacterial skin infection, sometimes a strep infection, and sometimes staph. I'm only 7 weeks out from a six month treatment of steroids and just finished antibiotics for bronchitis. Should I be worried? (Seems like I get an infection every time my GS is sick.)

I guess I know what to look for symptom wise, but how paranoid should I be? Open to suggestions.

Don't worry yourself too much. Just keep the young one clean, the items around him clean and make sure you are taking care as well around him (proper hand washing etc).

I do hope you don't develop this infection!

Just thought I'd check on you. Does your grandson actually have it or was he just exposed? It is highly contagious unfortunately. Often times one of the first signs is a previous cut or scratch that starts looking crusty. Definitely practice good handwashing as the best way to prevent passing this along.

I'm not aware of this particular condition . . . but when it comes to germ-sharing, I have become somewhat of a fanatic in recent years. I tote a spray bottle of Lysol around with me in the house whenever anyone is sick, and ESPECIALLY clean the keyboard every time someone comes near my computer.

Yep, I'm obsessive about it . . . but for me, I am so susceptible and find it hard to recover from anything else now that this disease has become a force to reckon with. Better safe then sorry.
