Well, then, why do rheumatologists treat things like RA, lupus, Sjogren's, scleroderma, etc? I think it goes more by where the autoimmune disease does it's damage because the specialist in that area is more apt to treat the sx and damage.
Also, there are way fewer immunologists and it seems like they are more researchers who work in tandem with the other specialties.
