Default Heat Question

Is it possible to have lasting effects from too much heat yesterday?

I sat outside in the direct sun for a couple of hours yesterday at a Flag Day celebration. I got terribly overheated and was really messed up the whole day even after I cooled down.

In past summers, when the heat would zap me, I just had to cool down and then I would be OK. Is it possible that yesterday's exposure is still affecting me today? Does anyone else experience this or am I just wiped out from something else?

For me, "trigger" symptoms are different than overdoing things or infection ...

Heat, stress, exercise, excertion, showers, cold, etc. will trigger worsening symptoms for me, but when the trigger is removed, I recover fairly quickly (usually minutes/hours).

Infection and overdoing things can take me several days to recover from. If I plan a weekend away where I am out of my element/comfort zone, for instance, I KNOW not to plan anything for the following week at least. If I take a 10 day vacation, I need a month to recover. If I get infection, it might take up to three weeks to recover IF I caught it in time.

Did you get sunburn,Holly? If so, that could be making you feel warmer and raising your core temp. , even today when out of the sun. Just a thought...

Hi Holly,

I don't have MS but have CRPS/RSD (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) that has lots of the same symptoms as MS.

I was out in the sun yesterday with my mum as we went to the zoo and am paying for it today. I have had to miss school again as I am in a pain flare and think it is because of either the sun yesterday or the fact I overdid it too much. I also have some knee problem that isn't helping with things.

For me, I tend to find that if I have had too much sun, my symptoms get worse. If I am too hot, I also tend to faint from overheating.

My nanan had Progressive MS and she found that the sun bothered her also.

Sorry you aren't feeling well - I hope you feel better soon!

Interesting - I never thought of that! I am a little sunburned. Just part of my face and in a V-shape on my chest. I'm not sure that would be enough to raise my core temp or not???

Feel better..

i think that it can take a bit of time to recover from being too hot for an extended period of time Holly.

overheating can create a pseudo flare and i wouldn't be surprised if the sx's took a few days to go away.

hope you feel better soon.

When I do something like that it usually takes me a few days or more to re-coup.

Unfortunately, for me, heat can cause an exacerbation.

Hoping your feeling better today, Holly.

OK, no more going out into the heat without sunscreen and cooling scarf / ice packs! I'm a little better today, but not back to before. Sunburn must have been mild because it has already faded.
