I'm just wondering because my husband recently stayed at a Radisson Hotel where they have "Select Comfort" mattresses. When he returned home from his business trip he was raving about this bed. So, for Christmas we splurged and bought ourselves one of the "Select Comfort" beds. It was delivered yesterday.

I usually wake several times during the night, and have quite a restless sleep. Last night was the first night we slept on our new bed, and I have to say it was one of the best nights of sleep I've had in years and years. We had the top of the line "Sterns and Foster" mattress prior to this, and we were looking at the Termperpedic mattresses until someone told us that they retain heat and can get very hot (something we don't need down here).

It really wasn't that much more expensive than a regular mattress, and it has a 30 day trial period. I'm really happy with it so far. Of course it's only been one night. However, I was wondering if anyone has had this experience with the "Select Comfort" beds?

Love my water bed

We need a new mattress so I'm curious to see your responses to this. We have a firm mattress, my husband swears it's the only kind to go with. But I get extreme shoulder pain when sleeping on my side, because the mattress has no "give". We're both of average to lower weight and from everything I've read, lighter people do better with softer mattresses. He has back pain too, and I'm thinking it might help him also to have a softer mattress....

BTW, I love the new smiley collection...

I too am very interested in responses to this post. I am planning to get a mattress soon and I do not have a clue as to how to go about choosing one. Just to briefly try them out in the store does not do it for me. I need more time to tell if I like it or not.

We're both on the thin side as well, and had a very hard, but high end mattress. I am on my feet all day whilst at work and we always felt that a hard mattress would be best. My husband slept on the "SELECT COMFORT" mattress at a Radisson Hotel and loved it.

We bought ours at a local mattress store that is an approved dealer for "SELECT COMFORT". They have a 30 day trial period if you don't like it. You can return the mattress and they will donate it to a shelter. We learned that they can not resell any type of mattress.

I had another wonderful night's sleep last night, and didn't even take any zanaflex for spasms, which is quite unusual for me. I believe they have a website explaining how the mattress works if you'd like to see it. The link to the website is www.personalsleep.com

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask me. I'm quite thrilled with our newest addition. I do have a suggestion if you want to try it out. You can check into a Radisson Hotel overnight and sleep on one of their mattresses and see how you like it. We had to play around with different settings the first night we slept on ours.

Sorry I'm so late in getting to your thread on this subject.

My wife and I had been sleeping on a very old California King for many years and as you probably know the sheets are very expensive. We went to Sam's Club and bought a Serta Queen size on sale and it was wonderful and we ended up putting it in the guest room when we went our to buy a "real nice mattress" to add another Queen Sized bed to our bedroom. We paid almost $1,000 including tax and delivery for this Sealy Posturepedic that has a 10 year warrantee on it. I think we got screwed on the price as the guy was a little shady.

We've had the mattress less than a year and my wife can't sleep on it because it bothers her neck and shoulders. I'm still sleeping on it but it has three really deep recesses where my legs, butt, and back are. We are filing a claim with them now. We're waiting for someone from the store to come out and look at our claim. I just want my money back so I can get another Serta, but I don't think we have that choice. It's either repair or replace and we have to pay shipping.

I'm glad you found something comfortable that will last you years. Mattresses are designed to last only about 10 years but most people normally will go 15 to 20 years before replacing them.

Since DH's gone, I'm a Sofa Sleeper. Just don't want to sleep in our bed any more. I go to sleep watching Dog the Bounty Hunter or some other stupid TV show, so the Sofa is just more convenient.

I wonder if they make Sofa mattresses..

It's a pleasure to meet you. What a pity that you have had such problems with your mattress. I do hope they are able to get things sorted out for you. This mattress has parts that can be replaced after 10-15 years if the need arises. We shall see. In the meantime, we are both sleeping quite well these past few nights.
