Do people with MS tend to get sicker easier and for longer? Just wondering cos I've been sick for the second time in the last month, and this time I feel like my body is just not shaking it off. I haven't taken an antibiotic for about 10 years for upper respiratory stuff and I don't wanna have to break my record

I dont think I get sick any easier than I did before MS. I'm probably going to jinx myself for saying this, but I didnt even have a cold last winter. I had a day or two of minor sniffles and felt like I was going to come down with something, but it never got worse than that.
I do seem to get infections more often tho...UTI's mostly.

Many of my friends went through or are going through similar situations with illness this year. I think it's just something in the water. With that said, I find I'm actually sick less often in the past 10 years (dx'ed for 1.5, but my neuro suspects MS for 6 years approx.). When I have been ill, I've been hit hard though.

Did a few years with germ y kids teaching (they got sick we got real up close and personal sometime - Ive held vomit, cared for sick kids who came to school knowing I'd take care of them better than mom or foster care (had a rug/pillowed Quiet corner. Now I look back and think, my super immune system blasted off. In 20 years now, some UTIs but more avoided when I proactively avoid now by taking 3 antibiotics following each "incident" with DH. (all that stuff is down there) and one vomiting incident I blame on too much wine and HUGE intake of restaurant delicious food. DH and kids don't get sick much but when they do I never get same. I worry constantly about DD who is not big complainer but dislocated shoulder (a hyper extension), gets very rare joint pain (1) ,headache (2), never gets sun, I'm a mother - I worry. I wonder about what she never tells me. Now I'm worried!!

The longer I've had MS, the less generally "sick" I've been with other ailments.
![]() I used to get sinus infections, bronchitis, bad allergies, cold sores as big as the moon, colds, the flu ... anything and everything going around. Now I barely ever get sick (touch wood), but I am on LDN too. It may be helping in that way, but I was getting less and less "sick" over the years anyway. Cherie

I'm not saying that LDN is a miracle drug, but, since being on it. I haven't had as many illnesses.
If I do get ill, I seem to heal faster. I know that the healing faster is due to LDN. ![]()

knock wood but i've only gotten a bug once in yrs.
i get a flu shot every yr and have for a long time. i'd at least check with your dr about your illness to make sure you really don't have a bacterial infection. if it's viral you'll just have to give it time. at the worst you might have to stop nursing for a short time and pump and dump. hope you feel better. check with your dr. don't let it get out of control.

I find I am generqall healthier now with MS than without it. I don't know what causes it but I'll take it.

Hi PL,
When you are pregnant your baby takes whatever he/she needs to grow from your body. You could be deficient in vitamins or minerals. Have you has your blood tested for complete blood count, mineral panel, and b-12? You probably still take the pregnancy vitamins? Maybe not helpful enough? Also vitamin C, calcium, and Vit D would be good to add to prevent cold and such. I know you are breast feeding, so please ask your OB/GYN doctor what you can do to improve your health, and to better your chances of staying well. Just and idea.
